Synergies Work Announces 15 Finalists for 3rd Annual EDDIE Awards Celebrating Entrepreneurs with Disabilities

EDDIE Awards: A Celebration of Resilience in Entrepreneurship

On August 19, 2025, Synergies Work, a Nonprofit based in Atlanta dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs with disabilities, unveiled its 15 finalists for the 3rd Annual EDDIE Awards. Scheduled for September 25 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, this event not only recognizes outstanding business talents but elevates the visibility of entrepreneurs within the disability community.

Among the dignitaries expected at this year’s event are Steven Braskamp from Capital One, Maria Town, President of the American Association of People with Disabilities, and former U.S. Ambassador Andrew J. Young. Andrew Young will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his significant contributions to civil rights and community building.

The EDDIE Awards aim to spotlight the talent and entrepreneurial spirit flourishing within the disability community. Aarti Sahgal, Founder and CEO of Synergies Work, stated, “We’re inspired by the talent and innovation we’ve seen from across the nation. These entrepreneurs aren't just growing; they're redefining the future of business and reinforcing our commitment to invest in ability and equity.”

The finalists are competed across five categories, and one distinguished entrepreneur will receive the title of Entrepreneur of the Year, along with a $10,000 grant to continue their business journey.

Guests will enjoy an evening filled with entertainment, featuring musical acts from Dom Sean Kelly of the acclaimed band A Fragile Tomorrow, and Deshaymond Solomon, who is redefining perceptions of blindness through his music and entrepreneurialism. Both performers exemplify the spirit of overcoming adversity, making them fitting representatives for the event.

Judging this year's submissions is a distinguished panel, including Al McRae from Bank of America, Shakir Moin from Coca-Cola North America, and experts from various business realms. Their insights are instrumental in determining the winners who exemplify grit and innovation.

This year's sponsors, including CareSource, ZenBusiness, and the Georgia Advocacy Office, play a fundamental role in supporting the EDDIE Awards and the mission of promoting entrepreneurship among individuals with disabilities. Ruby Moore, Co-Chair of the event, emphasized, “The EDDIEs are a powerful celebration of what's possible when talent meets opportunity.”

In conjunction with the awards ceremony, eligible finalists will experience an all-expenses-paid trip to participate in the event, an initiative underscoring Synergies Work's commitment to investing in the entrepreneurial journeys of disabled individuals. Proceeds from the event will be reinvested into programs that foster a supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs with disabilities.
