Unleashing Urban Running Culture: TYCOON Running Opens in Shibuya

TYCOON Running: A New Concept Store in Shibuya

On May 16, 2025, an innovative concept shop named TYCOON running opened its doors in the vibrant district of Shibuya, specifically on Spain Slope. This establishment is not just about running; it's a fusion of running as a form of self-expression and a dialogue with the urban landscape. In an ever-evolving city like Tokyo, this new shop aims to redefine running culture in a creative way.

Led by director Takashi Imai, who is a notable figure in sneaker culture, TYCOON running stands at the intersection of running and street culture. The store showcases a carefully curated selection of sneakers, apparel, and running gear that are essential for city dwellers looking to enhance their urban running experience. But TYCOON running isn't just a retail space; it also serves as a community hub where events and running sessions are held regularly, fostering connections between individuals and their surroundings.

What sets TYCOON running apart is its unique philosophy that running should resonate with the rhythm of the city. The mantra promotes “running to live in the city,” encouraging a freer, more authentic lifestyle for all runners in Shibuya and beyond. The store intends to spread this message of living vibrantly through running, making every heartbeat and footstep in sync with the city’s pulse.

Store Characteristics

TYCOON running is located on the basement floor of the Rise Building in Shibuya, offering a stylish and inviting atmosphere for both novice and seasoned runners. Furthermore, every Wednesday evening, the store hosts a social run, inviting local runners to engage with the community and explore the neighborhood while staying active.

About Takashi Imai

Takashi Imai's background is as unique as his vision for TYCOON running. Starting as a rapper in the hip-hop group GAS BOYS in the early 1990s, he later transitioned into the sneaker industry, gaining recognition for his creative designs. Returning to atmos in 2017, he helped in solidifying brands like On and HOKA within the sneaker community. As of March 2025, Imai took on the role of director at TYCOON running to further his innovative vision.
