DEAN & DELUCA's Sweet Collaboration
DEAN & DELUCA, managed by Welcome Co., Ltd. and headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, is thrilled to announce its collaboration with renowned sweets expert Rika Fukuda. This exciting partnership will introduce the classic Swedish treat "Havregrynskakor" starting September 1, 2025, available across markets, cafes, and the official online store.
The Gift Project
In an effort to celebrate traditional sweets from around the world, DEAN & DELUCA has embarked on a special "Gift Project" with Rika Fukuda. This undertaking revolves around the theme of “C’est mignon × Classique” (Cute × Classic), reinterpreting iconic sweets from various countries while ensuring careful attention to ingredient quality and flavor. With multiple prototypes tested, the project focuses on evoking seasonal imagery and heartfelt sentiments through meticulously crafted gifts. Additionally, the packaging is designed to reflect Fukuda's unique sensibilities, embedding seasonal visuals and emotions into each sweet treat.
The project kicked off in February 2025, with the initial release featuring French "Petit Diamant" cookie tins, followed by British "Tiviscuits." Now, the much-anticipated third installment, the traditional Swedish "Havregrynskakor," is set to make its debut.
About Havregrynskakor
The name "Havregrynskakor" translates to "Oatmeal Cookies," and these delightful snacks are made by spreading fruit jam atop a simple cookie dough before baking. Featuring flavors such as raspberry, wild blueberry, and apricot, this cherished Swedish treat encapsulates the sweetness and tartness of berries harvested during the country's brief summer, making it an essential element of the coffee break known as “fika.”
In this collaboration, the classic recipe is carefully preserved while an innovative twist is introduced through the addition of almond powder, enhancing the cookie dough's depth and flavor. The artistic synergy between Rika Fukuda's warmth and DEAN & DELUCA's mission of sharing culinary joy has resulted in cookies that are sure to provide comfort and satisfaction to both the giver and receiver.
The packaging reflects a fruit-collecting basket design, enhancing the unboxing experience to create an element of joy upon opening. This makes them ideal for gifts to loved ones or as charming additions to gatherings, leaving a lasting impression with its bright and festive design. The details of the packaging ensure that even after enjoying the treats, recipients will be left with a warm memory of their gift.

Attention to Detailing
1.
Light and Flaky Texture: The cookie dough is crafted with ample amounts of specially prepared jam, created from fruits reflecting Sweden's harvest during its short summers. The traditional preparation involves simply mixing the dough, adding jam, and baking them, making these cookies a staple in Swedish households.
2.
Nutty Flavor Enhancement: Two types of dough – plain and cocoa – paired with three traditional fruit jams create balanced flavor profiles that are enjoyable and comforting.
3.
Visually Appealing Design: Acknowledging the Swedish culture of fruit harvesting, the packaging mimics a wooden basket, designed not just for visual aesthetics but also for practical serving. The vibrant illustrations on the package, created by artist Misato Ogihara, adds a warm, inviting touch.
The granules of enthusiasm and affection from Rika Fukuda infuse every detail, ensuring both the cookies and packaging leave a meaningful experience for all.
