Unveiling 'Body Language' at UltraSuperNew KURA
Art enthusiasts are invited to experience an extraordinary intersection of surrealism and everyday life at the upcoming exhibition titled 'Body Language,' hosted by UltraSuperNew KURA, starting September 26. The exhibition highlights the works of Conal Kelly, a talented graphic designer and creative director originally from the United Kingdom and now based in Tokyo.
A Deep Dive into Body Language
The exhibition promises to delve into the themes of bodily presence, digital culture, and the constructs of modern society. Through a compelling narrative, Kelly reconstructs fragments of past imagery to create new stories that resonate with contemporary experiences. His graphic art juxtaposes the surreal with the banal, prompting visitors to reflect on the contradictions in today's internet-driven culture.
The show marks Conal's first solo exhibition, showcasing not only graphic art but also apparel, reflecting his personal and professional evolution over the last decade. Each piece serves as a vivid representation of the modern sensibilities shaped by the rapid changes in today's digital landscape.
Meet the Artist
Conal Kelly has carved a niche for himself in the creative industry, starting his career in East London at the popular select shop 'GOODHOOD' after earning a degree in Graphic Communication Design from Central Saint Martins in 2017. Since moving to Tokyo in 2020, he has collaborated with various brands and media outlets, including Arc'teryx, THE NEW ORDER Magazine, and SUICOKE, providing design, consulting, and creative services. His path exemplifies the dynamic interplay of tradition and modernity in contemporary art.
