Russ Johannesson Takes Charge at Caregentic

In a significant move for the healthcare technology sector, Caregentic has announced the appointment of Russ Johannesson as Chief Executive Officer. This veteran in the healthcare field brings over 30 years of experience to the company, paving the way for an innovative leap in AI-native patient automation systems.

A New Direction for Caregentic

Russ Johannesson, an industry trailblazer, will be responsible for steering Caregentic into its next growth phase. With a track record of scaling successful health tech enterprises, Johannesson's deep knowledge in artificial intelligence, digital health solutions, and commercial operations will prove invaluable as the company looks to expand its influence both nationally and globally. He also joins Caregentic’s Board of Directors, reinforcing its leadership.

Before taking the reins at Caregentic, Johannesson served as the CEO of Glooko, a pioneer in connected care for cardiometabolic conditions. Under his leadership, Glooko saw dramatic growth, aiding over 1.2 million patients and more than 8,000 healthcare institutions worldwide while raising more than $250 million in capital. Highlights from his earlier career include his role as COO at Sharecare, where he significantly increased revenue from $47 million to over $400 million, and as Chief Client Officer at OptumHealth, overseeing an extensive portfolio worth over $8 billion.

Vision for the Future

During his announcement, Johannesson expressed his excitement about redefining care delivery with intelligent automation. He highlighted how Caregentic's platform has the potential to enhance patient access, improve outcomes, and significantly reduce clinician workloads. “I'm thrilled to join this extraordinary team and help realize the full potential of Caregentic's platform as we expand across the U.S. and globally,” Johannesson stated.

The company has achieved remarkable early success through its strategic partnership with Northwell Health and Aegis Ventures. Caregentic’s women's health product, tested among Northwell employees, showed a positive impact on patient engagement, diminished no-show rates, and lighter administrative burdens for clinical staff.

Aligning with Leading Health Systems

Northwell Health is New York’s largest healthcare provider and has begun to expand the deployment of Caregentic's platform across other operational units. This collaboration is part of the Aegis Digital Consortium, consisting of 11 prominent health systems across the U.S., aimed at developing technology solutions to address core challenges related to quality, cost, and equity in healthcare.
