Huawei Unveils Next Generation AI-Powered Green Solutions at MWC 2026

Huawei Unveils Next Generation AI-Powered Green Solutions

During the Product & Solution Launch at MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei's Bob He, vice president of Digital Power, showcased revolutionary technologies aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in telecommunications. The latest innovations include AI-Powered Green Sites and gigawatt solutions for Artificial Intelligence Data Centers (AIDC), designed to facilitate operators in their quest for carbon neutrality while laying the foundation for artificial intelligence computations in the age of the Internet of Intelligence.

Energy-Efficient Telecommunication Sites

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence is driving explosive growth in data traffic, posing significant challenges to the energy infrastructure of telecommunication sites. Huawei's energy-efficient telecommunication stations, supported by AI, provide a comprehensive intelligent synergy that enhances network resilience and reduces operating expenses (OPEX). By transforming energy storage systems into revenue generators, these solutions are set to reshape the telecommunications landscape.

Zero Downtime with iBackup Technology

One of the remarkable features introduced is the iBackup technology, which doubles backup time and increases the site’s power availability to 99.9%. In Kuwait, this has translated to an extension of emergency backup time from three to six hours, ensuring uninterrupted operation during power outages. Furthermore, the integration of intelligent algorithms allows for the effective prediction of weather conditions, energy production, and load, facilitating a smart and collaborative approach to planning solar photovoltaic systems, energy storage, and generators. In South Africa, this solution has helped customers reduce fuel consumption by 75%, saving over $10,000 annually while cutting carbon emissions by 18 tons per site each year.

Transitioning from Savings to Revenue

Huawei's virtual power plant solution is designed for all operational scenarios, enabling energy storage operators to participate in electricity markets and generate additional revenue. In Northern Europe, this innovative approach has led to an increase in annual earnings by over €2,000 per location.

Gigawatt Solutions for AIDC

The demand for computing power in this intelligent age has created an urgent need for AI Data Centers. Huawei's data centers have been reimagined to enhance reliability, energy consumption, supply chains, and seamless operations. The new design focuses on four core areas—power, cooling, energy storage, and operations—to provide highly reliable, energy-efficient, quickly delivered, and fully compatible solutions for AIDC, ultimately maximizing token performance per watt and pushing the AI era forward.

Integrated Power Solutions

Through innovations spanning the power chain from grid to chips, Huawei has developed the PowerPOD, a high-density, efficient, and reliable integrated solution, allowing for rapid construction and operational activation of AIDC. Alongside this, the IT POD integrates cutting-edge cooling technologies to achieve effective and reliable temperature management across the entire AIDC setup.

AI Enhancements in Data Center Operations

AI's role is pivotal in boosting the security and energy efficiency across the lifecycle of data centers. Predictive capabilities enable proactive maintenance strategies, switching from reactive responses to predictive upkeep. Through intelligent coordination and optimization of cooling and power, energy consumption is significantly reduced.

Bob He emphasized Huawei’s commitment to harnessing its strengths in converged technologies across energy, wireless services, and infrastructure to assist operators in building more flexible, reliable, and eco-friendly ICT infrastructures. This initiative aims to accelerate smart transformations in an AI-driven world, contributing to sustainable business success.
