The Story Behind 'Yuugao'
Originally staged in
2017, 'Yuugao' is inspired by the real struggles of Kanpyou farmers in Tochigi. As Japan's rural areas face decline due to aging populations and a lack of successors, this play narrates the story of a family about to lose its generational farming heritage. The narrative revolves around two sisters—the elder who wishes to preserve their family's pride in their agricultural roots, and the younger who chooses to pursue life away from the farm. Their contrasting paths lead to a rich tapestry of laughs and tears, capturing the essence of familial bonds and the challenges of modern life.
The music for the play is composed by the highly acclaimed
Yuki Hayashi, known for his work on popular dramas like 'Emergency Interrogation Room' and hit anime series like 'My Hero Academia' and 'Haikyuu!!'. This collaboration marks the third project together, promising a powerful auditory experience that complements the emotional storyline.
