Inspiring Keynote Speakers Announced for ACTFL 2025 Convention
Exciting Keynote Speakers for ACTFL 2025 Convention
The ACTFL Annual Convention and World Languages Expo for 2025 has announced two remarkable keynote speakers who are set to inspire and motivate attendees. Hamilton actor Miguel Cervantes will kick off the convention as the Opening Keynote Speaker on November 21, 2025, while respected conservationist Dr. Steve Boyes will conclude the event with his Closing Keynote address.
Miguel Cervantes: A Story of Resilience and Inspiration
Miguel Cervantes is best known for his role as Alexander Hamilton in the acclaimed Broadway production Hamilton: An American Musical. His portrayal has not only captivated audiences but also marked him as one of the most prominent figures in the theater world today. However, his path to success was not without its challenges. Throughout a tumultuous journey filled with personal loss and obstacles, Cervantes found strength and purpose, ultimately channeling his experiences into his performances.
In addition to his acting career, Miguel and his wife Kelly have actively contributed to charitable causes, particularly in supporting those affected by epilepsy through the CURE Epilepsy organization. Cervantes' work in this area highlights his commitment to using his platform for positive change, reflecting a deep sense of social responsibility. His participation in the ACTFL Convention promises to offer attendees insights into the impactful role of storytelling and the arts in overcoming adversity.
On sharing news about his keynote address, Cervantes stated, "I am honored to share my journey with fellow language educators and enthusiasts, demonstrating the power of persistence and creativity in our lives."
Dr. Steve Boyes: Championing Conservation and Biodiversity
In a bold transition from the arts to science, Dr. Steve Boyes will bring his wealth of knowledge and experience as a conservationist to the ACTFL Convention. A National Geographic Explorer and a Rolex Perpetual Planet Ambassador, Boyes has dedicated his career to the preservation of Africa’s unique ecosystems and wildlife. His commitment to blending adventure with academic research has led him to explore remote regions across Africa, where he focuses on biodiversity, wildlife rehabilitation, and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Boyes' impactful work on issues like the wild-caught bird trade, forest restoration, and the conservation of endangered species reflects a dedication to not only raising awareness but also enacting tangible positive change. His keynote will encourage attendees to consider how exploration and education drive conservation efforts, demonstrating how every individual can contribute to the health of our planet.
Upon confirmation of his participation, Dr. Boyes said, “I am excited to share my experiences and insights at the ACTFL Convention, inspiring language educators to engage students in global conservation efforts.”
