McDonald's Celebrates 1 in 8 Day to Honor Employees' Skills and Legacy

Honoring a Unique Legacy: 1 in 8 Day at McDonald's

On January 8, McDonald’s will commemorate a special occasion known as 1 in 8 Day, celebrating not only the legacy of its past and present employees but also the remarkable skills they have developed during their time at the iconic fast-food chain. This day serves as a fitting acknowledgment of the fact that one in eight Americans has worked at a McDonald’s, creating a statistic that exemplifies the shared experience of over 40 million people across the country.

The launch of Arches & Ambition: The 1 in 8 Mentorship Program on this day highlights the unique professional journeys that begin under the golden arches. Over seven decades, McDonald’s has been a haven for employees, where they acquire vital skills not only for their careers but also for life beyond the restaurant. Employees learn teamwork, adaptability, and the art of maintaining composure during lunch rushes, all while delivering delicious and memorable moments to customers.

To celebrate this initiative, activities will take place nationwide, recognizing staff contributions at various restaurants and bringing fans into the mix through local perks. The aim is to unify the "1 in 8" community and honor the lifetime skills shaped under the golden arches.

Each partnership within the mentorship program draws attention to compelling stories of growth and inspiration. These narratives showcase the connections formed between McDonald's employees and alumni who have excelled in various fields such as entrepreneurship, culinary arts, fashion, and sports.
