A New Frontier in Care: Colorful West Tokyo Nexus
In an exciting development for wellness and care, ColorfulNIPPON, located in Nishitokyo City, Tokyo, is set to open a new living care facility called Colorful West Tokyo Nexus in April 2026. This facility, founded by Masao Taira, aims to create an inclusive environment under the concept of 'Disability x Wellness,' focusing on mental and physical health.
The organization has previously supported individuals with intellectual disabilities through its other facilities, such as Colorful Nishitokyo and Colorful Musashino. With this new establishment, they are stepping beyond traditional welfare boundaries, integrating the power of wellness with community connections.
Background and Vision
ColorfulNIPPON encourages a transformative approach to care, aiming to operate wellness classes that function as productive activities. The new facility will feature a membership-based gym, allowing users to support the operations, thereby enhancing their wage and contributing positively to their local community.
Unique Features of Colorful West Tokyo Nexus
The new facility will have three standout characteristics:
1.
Employment Support through Gym Operations: A membership-based gym will be available on site where participants will take on practical tasks like cleaning mats and laundering towels and gymwear. This model of 'productive activity' challenges the conventional concepts of welfare facilities.
2.
Comprehensive Physical Programs: Beyond regular exercise regimens like mat workouts and walk sessions, users will benefit from bi-monthly physical adjustments by a chiropractor and seasonal activities, like pool sessions. Further, there will be engaging options like dance and karaoke designed to refresh the mind and body.
3.
Robust Support System Tailored to Diverse Needs: With a capacity of only 12 individuals, the facility will focus on actively accepting those within support category 3 or above. By integrating with the adjacent Colorful Musashino facility, they will create a flexible support system capable of assisting up to 20 individuals.
Thoughtful Workspace Design
The interiors will reflect a serene environment, reminiscent of a forest. The corridors will include hidden small animal motifs in the wallpaper, designed to bring a sense of joy to daily activities. Special spaces will be designated for relaxation, playful movements, and exercise, accommodating activities such as rolling around and dancing.
The gym will also open its doors to the local community, offering classes in yoga, Jiu-Jitsu, and dance, further reinforcing the goal of improving wages through community involvement.
