China Unicom Unveils AI Unites All Initiative to Bridge Digital Divide at MWC 2025

China Unicom Launches AI Unites All Initiative at MWC 2025

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 held in Barcelona, China Unicom unveiled its innovative initiative 'AI Unites All,' aimed at bridging the digital divide through the integration of industrial intelligence powered by Huawei. This initiative was discussed in depth at a development workshop themed "5G-A Empowering, AI Transforming, Digital Living," attended by top executives and industry representatives.

Jian Qin, CEO of China Unicom, underscored the company's commitment to leveraging technological innovation as a guiding principle. He stated, "China Unicom is dedicated to actively adopting AI advancements to contribute to global smart transformation through 'Unicom Intelligence' and 'Unicom Solutions.' Our strategic planning and significant investments in AI focus on five core pillars: computing infrastructure, network connectivity, data resources, model development, and application scenarios. Our aim is to lead in the convergence of AI technologies and industrial applications."

In support of this initiative, Yang Chaobin, a board member at Huawei and CEO of its ICT Business Group, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. He proclaimed, "By facilitating a wide array of intelligent applications for users using cutting-edge AI technologies, we will enable China Unicom to create globally-impactful AI service gateways and make intelligence more accessible."

As China Unicom's strategic partner, Huawei aims to continue its tight collaborations to foster converged AI innovations. This partnership has led to the establishment of a cloud-based AI service platform, designed for individual and household users. This platform synergistically integrates cloud technology, computing, networking, and devices into a unified AI service gateway.

One notable successful implementation occurred during the Asian Winter Games, where China Unicom launched AI-enabled, cloud-based smartphones featuring an AI assistant named Tone. The technology employs classic foundational models and 5G-A networks to offer users a seamless experience across various scenarios, supporting secure and reliable AI services.

Beyond consumer applications, they also aim to enhance various sectors such as administration, healthcare, manufacturing, and cultural industries with AI technology, focusing on making network experiences safer, more reliable, flexible, scalable, efficient, and collaborative. Furthermore, China Unicom is a leader in providing fiber-to-the-home broadband services, having introduced the HI-CON (Home Intelligent Collaborative Optical Network) system, which enhances user experience significantly through optical and Wi-Fi collaboration supported by intelligent programming algorithms.

At the MWC event, China Unicom officially launched its 'AI Unites All' plan. Guided by its strategy for innovation convergence, the company intends to promote a robust synergy between networks and AI technologies, aspiring to deliver smart connectivity solutions for all. This approach aims to facilitate broader access to AI technology across diverse sectors, ultimately helping industries adopt smart solutions that benefit countless households.

The MWC Barcelona 2025 runs from March 3 to 6 at the Fira Gran Via center, where Huawei will showcase its latest products and solutions at booth 1H50 in hall 1. As 5G-Advanced deployment accelerates in 2025, AI's role in reshaping operator businesses and infrastructures continues to gain significance. Huawei is actively collaborating with operators and partners globally to expedite the transition to an intelligent world.
