Digital Hollywood Teams Up with Canva for Online Design Course Launching in May

Digital Hollywood and Canva: A New Era of Online Design Learning

Digital Hollywood, a pioneer in IT and digital content education based in Tokyo, has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with Canva to launch an online design course. Set to begin in May, this course aims to equip individuals with essential design literacy skills crucial for thriving in an era dominated by artificial intelligence.

In this new course, students will use a premium Canva business account, provided as part of the course package, to gain hands-on experience that nurtures vital design judgment skills like aesthetic appreciation and decision-making ability. This foundational training is designed to help participants navigate the increasingly accessible yet competitive world of design.

Eri Sudo, an esteemed art director at Dentsu and a graduate of Digital Hollywood University, will serve as the comprehensive director of this course. Sudo brings her extensive experience and insights into the nuances of design in the context of AI, making her an invaluable resource for students looking to refine their practical design skills while also building a deep understanding of design's intrinsic value.

The Rationale Behind the Course

The explosive growth of generative AI means anyone can quickly produce design concepts. However, distinguishing oneself based on mere technical skills has become increasingly difficult. Digital Hollywood has been at the forefront of creative education since its establishment in 1994, cultivating a wealth of professionals who lead the industry. By providing this new course, they aim to raise the bar for creative standards across the business landscape by fostering a generation of learners well-versed in universal design principles.

Kenji Takeda, GTM & Alliance Lead at Canva Japan, emphasizes the growing importance of having the ability to discern quality in a world where creativity is becoming more accessible. He sees this partnership as an opportunity to help learners not only acquire practical Canva skills but also cultivate the aesthetic judgment and design literacy necessary for meaningful creative work.
