Y. & SONS Unveils Captivating Autumn/Winter 2025 Collection

Y. & SONS Autumn/Winter 2025 Collection Unveiled

The renowned brand Y. & SONS, operated by Yamato Co., Ltd., has recently launched its visually stunning Autumn/Winter 2025 collection. Centered around the concept of the “kimono tailor,” Y. & SONS showcases a unique approach to modern kimono styling, breaking free from traditional norms. This season’s collection emphasizes the beauty of fabric textures shaped by skilled tailoring and focuses on creating garments that evolve in depth over time.

Embracing Traditional Craftsmanship

This collection features rich collaborations with Japan's national textile regions, such as Katakai cotton, Tokamachi silk, and Yonezawa fabric, tapping into their inherent qualities to craft innovative garments. Among the highlights:

  • - Kimono: Katakai Cotton / Plain Weave / Black - ¥66,000
  • - Hifu (Jacket): THOMAS MASON / GATSBY / BLACK - ¥77,000
  • - Kimono: Tokamachi Silk / Striped / Dove Gray - ¥115,500
  • - Kimono: Yonezawa Weaving / Silk Molle / Striped / Black - ¥198,000

The collection retains the simplicity of Katakai cotton by producing solid color materials devoid of patterns, emphasizing the authentic texture of cotton. In contrast, Tokamachi explores traditional keneri and twisted yarns, enhancing the depth of the textiles, while Yonezawa challenges convention with its bold use of high-twist threads and silk moller to create dynamic fabric expressions.

Upcoming Release Dates

  • - Katakai Cotton and Tokamachi Silk: Scheduled for early September
  • - Yonezawa Weaving: Scheduled for late October

Innovative Wool Fabrics from Bishu

Further expanding their offerings, Y. & SONS draws upon the Bishu region to create reversible wool fabrics with contrasting colors. This unique approach allows wearers to explore diverse styles depending on which side of the fabric is showcased. Inspired by vintage sample books from the 1900s, rough-textured wool materials now make an appearance, offering intricate blends of various colored threads:
  • - Kimono: MITSUBOSHI / Wool Satin / Beige x Brown - ¥99,000
  • - Hifu: MITSUBOSHI / Wool Satin / Brown x Beige - ¥93,500
  • - Samue (Work Clothes): MITSUBOSHI / Wool Cotton / Multi Color - ¥112,200
  • - Kimono: MITSUBOSHI / Wool Cotton / Red - ¥110,000

These items are expected to release early in November.
