The Church of Jesus Christ Doubles Global Efforts to Aid Women and Children

In a remarkable commitment to improve global welfare, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently announced the doubling of its initial funding to support more than 21 million women and children worldwide. On June 5, 2025, during a gathering at the Relief Society Building in Salt Lake City, Camille N. Johnson, the General President of the Relief Society, revealed that the church will allocate an additional $63.4 million to its ongoing initiative. This announcement builds on a previous donation of $55.8 million made in the prior year, signifying a bold expansion of their efforts to enhance the lives of vulnerable populations.

Throughout 2024, the program achieved significant outcomes: 21.2 million children and mothers received essential vitamins; 1.87 million children were screened for malnutrition, with further treatment provided as needed; 1.6 million mothers were trained in nutrition best practices. Additionally, 219,000 pregnant mothers received prenatal care, and 141,000 families benefited from seeds and guidance to establish nutrient-dense food gardens at home.

The impact of the initiative extends beyond basic needs; it also includes training for 41,000 individuals on hygiene practices and support for 17,000 health workers to improve maternal and neonatal care. Furthermore, the church facilitated essential upgrades in water and sanitation facilities for 6,800 people, saving the lives of newborns and equipping health establishments to effectively manage malnutrition cases.

During the gathering, Johnson recognized the collaborative spirit, stating, "With our global reach, we are uniquely positioned to foster cooperation between these eight organizations. By leveraging our individual strengths and resources, we amplify our collective impact. What a blessing it is to come together to serve God’s children around the world."

The announcement of the new funding coincided with a roundtable discussion led by Bishop L. Todd Budge, focusing on women and children's health and nutrition. Featured panelists included leaders from various organizations who highlighted ongoing projects and shared success stories.
