AC Hotels by Marriott Expands into Indiana with New Development in Fishers District
AC Hotels by Marriott Expands into Indiana
In a significant announcement that showcases the ongoing development of Fishers District, AC Hotels by Marriott has revealed its plans to open its first Indiana property at The Union in Fishers, a suburb of Indianapolis. The new hotel, which will be owned and operated by Dora Hospitality, is expected to cater to both business and leisure travelers who visit this rapidly growing area.
The 135-room hotel will not only become a new lodging option in the area but will also incorporate approximately 15,500 square feet of retail space. Guests can look forward to state-of-the-art fitness equipment, modern meeting spaces, and distinctive European-inspired food and beverage options within the AC Lounge® and AC Kitchen. These offerings align with the brand’s commitment to creating an environment conducive to both relaxation and productivity.
Vincent Dora, president of Dora Hospitality, expressed excitement over the new property, highlighting its significance for local tourism. As a third-generation hotelier rooted in Indiana, Dora understands the unique attributes that make Fishers an attractive destination. He emphasized that the AC Hotel will elevate the local hospitality scene and provide an unforgettable experience for both residents and visitors alike. This sentiment is reinforced by the success of other hotels in the area.
Future Developments and Retail Opportunities
Located conveniently near Interstate 69 and 116th Street, The Union is one of five projects planned under the expansive Fishers District model. This mixed-use development will usher in a true urban experience that combines approximately 57,000 square feet dedicated to retail, dining, and entertainment along with 251 luxury apartments and 70,000 square feet of high-quality office space.
Expected to break ground in the first quarter of 2025, this development reflects the strategic vision of Thompson Thrift, the master developer of Fishers District. As leasing negotiations are already underway for the remaining 30% of retail space, several restaurants — including Piedra, Niku Sushi, Kitchen Social, Everbowl, and Racha Thai — have already signed on to join the vibrant community.
According to Ryan Menard, vice president of development for Thompson Thrift, Fishers District has established itself as a preferred destination for a diverse range of users, including residents, businesses, and travelers. The introduction of the AC Hotel will further enhance the synergy among retail spaces and office tenants, while significantly enriching the overall visitor experience.
Thompson Thrift began its venture into the Fishers District development back in 2015, and the initial phase garnered recognition, including a Monumental Award from the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce in 2020. Once fully realized, the overall $750 million development will encompass 123 acres, offering a wide variety of multifamily living options, along with an array of shopping, dining, and entertainment venues across five interconnected developments, all linked by pedestrian-friendly pathways.
