Cognizant's CEO Ravi Kumar S Receives the Esteemed Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award

Cognizant's CEO Ravi Kumar S has been awarded the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, an accolade given by the Indian government that acknowledges the significant contributions made by the Indian diaspora across the globe. The award ceremony took place on January 10, 2025, during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The honor was presented by Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, who celebrated the role of individuals like Ravi Kumar in promoting a positive image of India abroad and supporting critical causes that uplift the Indian community.

Ravi Kumar expressed his gratitude upon receiving the award, stating, "I am deeply honored to receive the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award. Ravi Kumar’s career began as a nuclear scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center in India. Over the years, he has emphasized the importance of education and skill development, focusing on creating opportunities for both current and prospective generations to prepare for future job markets. His advocacy for social and economic mobility is prominent, with notable initiatives aimed at empowering women and enhancing education through public-private partnerships.

Under his leadership, Cognizant introduced the Synapse initiative in 2024, which aspires to educate one million individuals worldwide in fields pertaining to emerging technologies, specifically in artificial intelligence, by 2026. Remarkably, the program has already engaged over 275,000 individuals. The Synapse initiative is a testament to Cognizant’s long-standing commitment to promoting economic mobility, supported by over $70 million in philanthropic contributions distributed across 117 grants to 77 organizations globally.
