This year, the university is thrilled to announce its upcoming event titled, "The 4th Annual Lecture on the Shinsengumi and Swordsmanship," which will be held on September 19th at the Central Welfare Center. Held in the heart of Hino City, the event will focus on the legendary samurai unit known as the Shinsengumi, particularly highlighting the life and legacy of Hijikata Toshizo, a key figure in the group. For fans and history enthusiasts, the Hijikata Toshizo Museum is a nearby attraction that houses rare artifacts and memorabilia related to this fascinating character, making it a popular destination for visitors throughout the year.

During this lecture, the curator of the museum, Ai Hijikata, will serve as the guest speaker, sharing unique insights into the life of her ancestor with firsthand narratives that only a descendant can provide. Her presentation promises to dive deep into the historical context surrounding Hijikata's life, his values, and the impact he had on the Shinsengumi and Japanese history as a whole.

In addition to the enlightening lecture, attendees will have the unique opportunity to witness a live swordsmanship demonstration performed by practitioners from the Natural Rishinryu Hino Dojo. You can either call at 042-581-7580 or visit in person to secure your spot. Please note that registrations will be unavailable on holidays.
