Launch of '47 i CANP': A New Course for Freelance PR Professionals in Japan

Upcoming Freelance PR Course: 47 i CANP

In January 2026, Aiko Tōmatsu, the CEO of Aiko Tōba Co., will launch an introductory program titled '47 i CANP' for those wishing to start their journey as freelance public relations professionals. This course is part of the online community 'Freelance PR 47,' which brings together communication specialists nationwide.

As PR functions become increasingly recognized for their significance within companies, more professionals are choosing to work independently to leverage their strengths in a flexible working environment. However, many aspiring freelance PRs face challenges such as fluctuating contract terms and misaligned expectations with clients, hindering their careers.

To address these issues, '47 i CANP' will provide a one-month intensive program that covers crucial elements unique to freelance PR work. Participants will learn about communication design and effective methodologies for achieving results, helping them build a solid foundation for independent work and client acquisition.

Program Overview

  • - Duration: One month intensive course (including 2 online sessions plus video content)
  • - Online Sessions:
- Session 1: January 8, 2026, 19:00–20:30
- Session 2: January 15, 2026, 19:00–20:30
  • - Format: Online
  • - Participants: Limited to the first 10 registrants
  • - Registration Deadline: December 26, 2025

Target Audience

'47 i CANP' is designed for individuals with PR experience who are contemplating a shift to freelance work. The program aims to consolidate PR skills and enable participants to effectively manage client relationships and expectations. It specifically excludes those without prior PR experience, focusing on preparing current professionals for independent work.

This initiative arose from a common concern shared by freelance PR professionals—that while many have substantial experience and skills, many do not know how to transition into freelancing effectively. This program will fill the gap by preparing participants for the unique aspects of freelance work, including client communication and project management.

Aiko Tōmatsu, a certified PR Times press release evangelist and founder of the 'Freelance PR 47' community, emphasized the need for structured training focused on the freelance model. The importance of establishing a solid groundwork cannot be understated, as it leads to a more significant sense of security and accelerated growth in the freelance landscape.
