Dahua Technology at SCEWC 2026: Envisioning an AI-Powered Urban Future
At the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2026 held from November 3 to 5 in Barcelona, Dahua Technology, a leading global provider of AIoT solutions, presented its innovative approaches for creating safer, more efficient, and sustainable urban environments. This year's theme, "Together for an AI-Driven Urban Future", reflects the company's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance urban management and public safety.
AIoT Solutions in Action
Dahua's urban safety solutions integrate high-definition cameras and other IoT devices with advanced AI analytics, designed to identify risks and coordinate emergency responses effectively. A notable application features intelligent detection capabilities combined with text and image searches, assisting in finding missing persons.
For Smart Traffic management, Dahua showcased technologies that enhance traffic monitoring, optimize traffic light signals, enforce traffic regulations, and detect incidents. One specific project in Campeche, Mexico, involved optimizing 34 intersections and implementing seven green wave systems, leading to a significant reduction in wait times by 15% and a 20% increase in traffic flow efficiency.
Dahua's Smart Mobility solutions aim to bolster public transportation safety and efficiency through real-time vehicle monitoring, safety alerts, and information sharing. A driver monitoring system detects risky behaviors, while live video feeds, GPS tracking, and passenger counting enhance fleet management and ticket verification processes.
The
City Governance technologies utilize AI analytics and multimodal information processing to identify issues such as illegal street trading, littering, missing manhole covers, and public safety hazards like flooding and blocked fire lanes. Natural language searches and automatic alerts help personnel respond timely to identified problems.
Moreover, Dahua presented its
Eco-Environment solutions for resource conservation and environmental management. High-altitude thermal cameras offer 360-degree surveillance, detecting potential fire hotspots from up to 10 kilometers away and assisting in emergency response efforts in conjunction with ground surveillance and drones. For water monitoring, a radar-based device linked with a PTZ camera provides real-time water level tracking and sends alerts when thresholds are exceeded.
Engaging Discussions on AI in Urban Management
In addition to the exhibition, John Li, Head of Global Government Business at Dahua Technology, participated in the prestigious panel discussion titled "Agentic AI Systems That Act". He emphasized how integrated AI within cameras and sensors enables proactive urban management from search operations to solving urban challenges. Li highlighted the critical importance of data privacy, transparency, and accountability to ensure that AI serves the public interest effectively.
Max Huang, Director of Global Government Projects, also delivered a talk on "Building Resilient, Inclusive, Sustainable Smart Cities with AIoT", explaining how edge intelligence and quality structured data are foundational for deploying extensive AI models in real-world smart city applications.
"Ultimately, IoT sensors act as the 'eyes and hands' of AI. Future AI won't be limited to processing information digitally; it will play an increasingly vital role in the physical world, helping us create safer, more efficient, and livable cities," Li stated, underscoring Dahua's dedication to collaboration with clients and partners.
Looking ahead, Dahua aims to continue driving innovation in smart city solutions and support the ongoing digital transformation of urban spaces, ensuring that cities can thrive in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
