TE Connectivity Surpasses 2025 Corporate Responsibility Targets, Leading in Sustainability

TE Connectivity Surpasses 2025 Corporate Responsibility Goals

TE Connectivity, a prominent player in the connectors and sensors industry, has reported significant achievements in its sustainability initiatives as part of its corporate responsibility strategy known as One Connected World. Launched five years ago, this strategy aimed to make the company more sustainable, safer, and inclusive for its employees and stakeholders.

According to TE's recently released annual report, the company has not only met but exceeded several of its targets well ahead of the 2025 deadline. One of the standout achievements is sourcing 87% of its electricity from renewable energy sources, surpassing its initial goal of 80%. This accomplishment is largely attributed to various localized projects, including a notable solar energy system at the Lamphun facility in Thailand, where a 1.1-megawatt system now provides around 15% of the site's energy consumption, significantly cutting down carbon emissions.

In addition to renewable sourcing, TE’s operations in Kurim, Czech Republic, have made strides in energy efficiency, saving over 150,000 kWh annually by optimizing molding processes—effectively doubling the energy savings achieved in the previous year. Another initiative in Tangier, Morocco, involves a new HVAC system that recycles condensate, generating a new water source to support factory operations, demonstrating TE's commitment to innovation and resource efficiency.

The company's comprehensive approach since implementing its One Connected World strategy has led to remarkable reductions in harmful waste and improved worker safety. TE reported a 66% decrease in hazardous waste disposal, far exceeding their target of 15%. In water management, they cut down water withdrawal in areas facing water stress by 22%, outperforming their 15% goal. Furthermore, the Total Reportable Incident Rate related to worker injuries stands at 0.06, which is significantly lower than their goal of 0.12, indicating a strong emphasis on employee well-being across their global operations.

TE Connectivity’s CEO, Terrence Curtin, emphasized the importance of these achievements, stating, “Our global teams have made strong progress against our One Connected World strategy. As we move forward in our journey and set new goals around water and waste, we will continue to take action on greenhouse gas reductions in our operations and collaboratively with our suppliers.”

As the company continues its forward momentum, it has set its sights on decreasing Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2032. The past year has seen encouraging results, with a 17% reduction already accomplished. Additionally, TE has expanded its zero waste to landfill sites to 56 and diverted 93% of its waste, aiming for an ambitious target of 98%.

TE Connectivity, recognized as an industrial technology leader, strives to be a trusted partner in innovation, with over 90,000 employees working collaboratively in around 130 countries. The company believes in creating a safer, sustainable, productive, and connected future and commits to the mantra that every connection counts in this fast-paced world.
