Shake Shack's Great Japanese Shake Sale
In celebration of its 10th anniversary in Japan, Shake Shack, the popular burger restaurant hailing from New York City, will hold the 'Great Japanese Shake Sale' (GJSS) from November 13 to 16, 2025. This initiative aligns with the brand's mission, 'Stand For Something Good™', and aims to contribute to children impacted by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
During this four-day event, patrons who donate ¥200 at participating Shake Shack locations will receive a shake ticket for a free S-sized Classic Shake as a token of appreciation. All proceeds will be donated to the 'Hatachi Fund,' a public interest corporation dedicated to supporting children affected by the disaster.
Since its inception in Japan, Shake Shack has consistently upheld its brand mission, 'Stand For Something Good™', establishing a strong connection between food, people, and the community. As the company reaches this important milestone, the GJSS event serves as a heartfelt gesture to express gratitude towards customers, partners, and local communities that have supported Shake Shack over the last decade.
GJSS Overview
The GJSS draws inspiration from the American charity program, 'Great American Shake Sale', reimagined for Japan. This initiative allows anyone to participate easily in charitable giving, fostering connections between donors and recipients through the joy of sharing shakes. Shake Shack aims to cultivate a culture of kindness and positivity within society through this unique approach.

About Hatachi Fund
The funds raised during this initiative will be directed to the Hatachi Fund, which aims to support the 'learning' and 'independence' of children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Established in 2011, the Hatachi Fund is committed to assisting the future of children in the Tohoku region for a 20-year period. Contributions received will be utilized for support activities tailored to local needs.
Message from Hatachi Fund
We extend our sincere gratitude towards Shake Shack for their continued support. Over a decade since the earthquake, we have witnessed many remarkable transformations as the children who once received support are now contributing to their communities through entrepreneurship and volunteer work. The Hatachi Fund is committed to sustaining this support until 2031, when the children affected at that time will turn 20.
