Tempus Holdings: Transforming Business Value and Expanding Its Store Network

Tempus Holdings: A Leader in the Kitchen Equipment Industry

Tempus Holdings (TSE Standard 2751), led by CEO Atsushi Morishita and headquartered in Ota City, Tokyo, has recently made headlines by being featured in the special edition of the shareholders' handbook, "Nine Companies that Enhanced Corporate Value in Five Years," published on November 17, 2025. This recognition highlights publicly traded companies that have significantly increased their market capitalization over the past five years while showing promise for future growth. Tempus Holdings saw its market cap soar from 29.7 billion yen in 2020 to 50.1 billion yen in 2025, marking an impressive increase of approximately 70%.

In terms of financial performance, Tempus Holdings reported sales of 47 billion yen last year, with its business segments divided as follows: 58% from merchandise sales, 8% from information and services, and 34% from the restaurant segment. The merchandise division encompasses both new and used kitchen equipment and cooking tools sold through Tempus Busters, which operates around 80 stores nationwide, and an online platform, Tempus.com. Their customers primarily include new restaurant entrepreneurs and existing restaurant operators. The information and services division supports restaurants with a range of services, including human resource recruitment, promotional assistance, financing, and POS systems. Lastly, the company operates its own restaurants, including steakhouses and conveyor-belt sushi establishments.

Tempus Holdings stands out in its approach to supporting restaurants not only through the sales and procurement of kitchen equipment but also by providing various services to enhance operational efficiency. For instance, the company leverages expertise gained from its 2006 acquisition of Asakuma, imparting restaurant management know-how back to restaurant operators. This includes offering property introductions, renovation services, financing support, promotional strategies, efficient management practices, and recruitment services.

As of November 2025, Tempus Busters, a subsidiary with eight locations, adopts a unique approach termed "Doctor Tempus Busters," wherein sales staff act like 'personal physicians' assessing the operational situations of restaurant owners to deliver tailored support. Employees keep track of critical business figures, such as sales, gross profits, profits, and labor costs to understand the status of each restaurant. Based on this data, they propose new business development ideas, support in franchise establishment, mergers and acquisitions, and enhancements in customer acquisition, promotion, and training. In support of underperforming clients, the company offers an "easy death course" to assist with the disposal of kitchen equipment and support for employees and property.

With growth in sight, Tempus Holdings has intensified efforts in new store openings. The company expanded from 60 stores in 2021 to 78 stores in 2025, successfully entering previously underserved regions in Shiga, Tottori, Yamanashi, Gifu, and Mie. Last year, nine new stores contributed to revenue growth, marking successes even in smaller cities with populations around 100,000. For example, new store openings in Yonago City, Tottori (population approximately 140,000) and Omihachiman City, Shiga (population around 80,000) achieved profitability within just one month of opening. Tempus Holdings is committed to continuing its expansion strategy into smaller cities with the ultimate goal of reaching 300 stores.

Established in March 1997 with a capital of 4.99 billion yen, Tempus Holdings currently employs 4,675 staff, including part-time workers, across its various subsidiaries involved in the merchandise, restaurant support services, and direct restaurant operations.

With a projected consolidated sales forecast of 57.7 billion yen and an operating profit of 3.4 billion yen for the fiscal year ending April 2026, Tempus Holdings continues to carve its niche in the competitive kitchen equipment landscape, further demonstrating its versatility and commitment to corporate growth and success.
