Rediscover Fukushima's Delicacies
The Tokyu Excel Hotel in Futako-Tamagawa is excited to announce its special 'Discover Fukushima' fair running from November 1 to November 30, 2025. This event features a unique menu that showcases the rich flavors and diverse ingredients from Fukushima Prefecture, all served in the elegant setting of the 30th Dining Bar located on the hotel's top floor.
A Taste of Tradition
Fukushima, often celebrated for its various agricultural products, will be prominently represented this month. In collaboration with Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, the hotel aims to highlight the deliciousness and charm of Fukushima's local produce. The Executive Chef has meticulously selected the finest ingredients to create dishes that tell the story of this region's culinary heritage. This will mark the 11th installment of the fair, demonstrating the hotel’s ongoing commitment to support local producers.
Featured Dish: Fukushima Gozen
One of the highlights of the fair is the Fukushima Gozen, a popular set meal that includes multiple dishes alongside seasonal desserts. A stand-out item in this selection is the sashimi made from the locally sourced Fukushima pacific saury. Its delicate silver skin is lightly seared, enhancing its tender texture and pairing perfectly with the unique crunch of soy sauce flakes sprinkled on top. This dish beautifully complements not only steamed rice but also pairs splendidly with a good sake—making it a hit among patrons.
The Star of the Show: Fukushima Beef Sukiyaki
No meal celebrating Fukushima would be complete without its renowned beef. The star attraction is the Fukushima Beef Sukiyaki, prepared using high-quality Japanese black cattle raised in the area. Known for its vibrant marbling and rich flavor, the thinly sliced beef is stir-fried with green onions and a variety of mushrooms, creating a delectable mix of textures and tastes. This dish is so tender that it practically melts in your mouth, and the umami flavor seeps into accompanying ingredients like tofu and veggies, inviting diners to have more rice on the side.
A recommended treat is the Sukiyaki TKG (Tamago Kake Gohan), where you pour the delightful sukiyaki broth over a bowl of fluffy Fukushima rice, elevating your dining experience to new heights.
Unique Delicacies and Seasonal Desserts
Another highlight on the menu includes deep-fried MeHikari and ankou fish, served alongside sweet potatoes known as 'Amahaduki,' which have been cultivated in Naraha town post-2011 earthquake disaster. For added flavor, the dish comes with a zesty 'Yuzu Ponzu,' made from locally sourced yuzu.
For a delightful interlude, the meal features a traditional accompaniment of miso-pickled Kobashira cucumbers. These rare vegetables, raised in Iwaki City, have a rich history dating back to the Meiji period and are characterized by their crispy texture and aromatic miso flavor.
As the event aims to celebrate the gate of autumn, the dessert option includes a seasonal sweet: sweet potato cream served with apple compote and pie. This treat, infused with cinnamon, offers an irresistible crunch and is available in smaller sizes as part of the Fukushima Gozen.
Special Promotions
Guests enjoying either of the highlighted dishes are invited to participate in a survey via their mobile devices, with a chance to win premium cube rice from Fukushima—a delightful giveaway, perfect for enjoying at home. This is available while supplies last, and diners will want to savor the stunning views of autumn from the high-rise dining bar while relishing these local flavors.
Upcoming Events in Futako-Tamagawa
In addition to the dining fair, the Futako-Tamagawa Rise Galleria will host the 'Autumn Delicious Fukushima Fair' on November 23 and 24, where a wide variety of Fukushima products, including new rice, seasonal fruits, fresh vegetables, sake, and locally made sweets, will be available for purchase. It’s a fantastic opportunity for visitors to connect with Fukushima's culinary delights while enjoying the bustling atmosphere.
As part of its commitment to enhancing the appeal of Fukushima, Tokyu Excel Hotel will continue its support through culinary arts, inviting everyone to experience the tastes and rich culture of this extraordinary region.
