A Global Collaboration Initiative by Sega and Animate
In a thrilling announcement, Sega Corporation, based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, and Animate, a renowned animation and gaming retailer, have launched their first global project. This initiative aims to celebrate the rich lore and universes encompassed within Sega's expansive portfolio of intellectual properties (IPs) through a series of year-long collaborations at Animate locations worldwide.
Starting in June 2026, fans can expect to indulge in exclusive exhibits, game demonstrations, and merchandise sales that showcase a total of eight world-famous IPs from Sega and its subsidiary, Atlus, alongside Rovio Entertainment. The participating IPs will include iconic titles such as
Sonic the Hedgehog,
Puyo Puyo, and
Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku, among others.
Exciting Activities Planned Globally
The initiative will take place across over 140 Animate retail locations in Japan and other countries. Throughout the duration of this project, visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of unique experiences. These include themed exhibitions, character-printed lattes available at Gratte cafes, and limited-time merchandise. Each location will also host special fairs that offer incentives for merchandise purchases.
The first event will highlight the beloved
Sonic the Hedgehog series from June 6 to June 28, 2026, including pop-up stores and fairs in key cities such as Shanghai, Taipei, Los Angeles, and more. Other major IPs will feature prominently throughout the year; for instance,
Puyo Puyo fairs are planned for February 2027, while
Persona and
Metaphor: ReFantazio will appear later in 2026.
