Bakery China 2026: A Hub for Global Baking Innovations
The 28th edition of Bakery China wrapped up successfully on May 23, 2026. Hosted at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, this event has solidified its reputation as a crucial international platform for the baking and confectionery sectors.
Organized by the China Bakery and Confectionery Industry Association in collaboration with Bakery China Exhibitions Co., Ltd., the four-day exhibition was themed "Innovate Beyond • Cutting-Edge Fusion • Connect the Future." Spanning over 330,000 square meters, it attracted 2,267 brands from 79 countries and regions, showcasing more than 10,000 diverse products. Nearly 400,000 professional visitors from 144 nations attended, marking a substantial increase in engagement and presence.
Zhang Jiukui, President of the China Bakery and Confectionery Industry Association, highlighted the event's commitment to driving high-quality development in the baking industry, promoting business collaborations, trend analysis, resource integration, skill enhancement, brand visibility, and international exchanges.
Expanding Global Connections
Bakery China 2026 further bolstered its global footprint, with international companies accounting for over 20% of exhibitors. Notable brands from Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, the United States, and South Korea showcased their innovations. A themed "Belt and Road Bakery Zone" exhibited unique ingredients and techniques from participating countries, while cultural fusions like "Chinese Flavors in Western-Style Cakes" and "Western Techniques in Traditional Chinese Baking" were prominent highlights. The number of foreign buyers surged by over 60%, emphasizing China's growing appeal in the global baking market.
Supporting International Expansion for Chinese Brands
In a groundbreaking move, Bakery China hosted a new forum on "Global Expansion," covering critical topics such as international compliance certification, halal certification, adapting local supply chains, developing international channels, and intercultural brand communication. This forum provided invaluable insights for Chinese bakeries looking to expand their reach internationally.
Showcasing Innovation in the Industry
The exhibition unveiled thousands of new products and technological advancements, with the Bakery China Innovation Award recognizing 136 products from 122 companies across categories like ingredients, equipment, and packaging. The New Product Launch Week underscored the event's role as a benchmark for industry innovation.
Highlighting Trends in Automation and Health
In addition to being a central hub for bakery professionals, Bakery China 2026 also featured Chocolate China 2026—a dedicated exhibition that covered 30,000 square meters and gathered over 150 global cocoa and chocolate companies, addressing the entire industry's value chain. Key trends highlighted included smart manufacturing, healthy eating, and clean labeling, with fully automated bakery production lines employing AI and artificial vision quality control systems demonstrating the industry's shift towards automation, traceability, and enhanced efficiency.
"Bakery China is a global leader in the bakery sector and an excellent platform to understand industry trends, gain inspiration, and discover products," stated Cai Yi Cheng, President of the Malaysian Bakery and Confectionery Union.
Looking ahead, the organizers plan to launch the inaugural Bakery ASEAN event in Jakarta, Indonesia, from August 27 to 29. Additionally, the 11th edition of Bakery China Autumn and the 9th China Home Baking Show will take place in Wuhan from October 22 to 24, promising another exciting array of innovations and products.
