Technos College Collaborates with Koganei City for Civil Marriage
Technos College, known for its innovative approaches to education, is partnering with Koganei City in Tokyo to initiate the first-ever “Koganei City Civil Marriage Ceremony.” This project is a joint effort aimed at enriching community ties and offering students hands-on experience in event production and planning.
Scheduled for February 14, 2026, the civil marriage ceremony will be an opportunity for one local couple to tie the knot at a city-run facility, specifically the Hakeno Mori Art Museum, creating a memorable experience that combines education with community service. The selection process for participating couples will open to residents of Koganei who meet specific criteria, including an obligation to attend pre-event orientation sessions scheduled for June 12 and June 19, 2025.
Enhancing Practical Learning through Community Collaboration
For years, Technos College has collaborated with local governments to create practical learning experiences for students. The wedding planning course, among other programs, has allowed students to exercise their creativity while producing memorable wedding ceremonies in partnership with various municipalities. This time, the “Koganei City Civil Marriage” marks the first wedding ventured by Technos College with this city, aligning perfectly with their mission of providing real-world experiences through academic collaboration.
The involvement of multiple departments signifies Technos College's cross-disciplinary approach. Students will be involved in everything from planning and design to event execution, ensuring that the ceremony reflects fresh perspectives rooted in the local environment. Previous collaborative wedding ceremonies have been met with enthusiastic responses from participants and community members alike, showcasing how a marriage can not only celebrate love but also foster community bonds.
