Fujifilm to Establish Circular Manufacturing Center in the Philippines

Fujifilm Business Innovation Inc., based in Minato, Tokyo, is taking significant strides towards enhancing resource recycling efforts in the Asia-Pacific region by opening a new recycling manufacturing facility in Laguna, Philippines. This facility, known as the Circular Manufacturing Center (CMC), is expected to commence operations in August 2026.

Located within the premises of FUJIFILM Optics Philippines Inc. (FOPH), which is renowned for its imaging equipment manufacturing, the CMC will focus on dismantling and refurbishing used multifunction devices collected across the Asia-Pacific. The center is designed to ensure that only parts meeting stringent quality standards will re-enter the production line. Refurbished machines will be assembled using the same manufacturing processes as new machines, guaranteeing quality comparable to brand-new products. In fact, these refurbished machines will achieve up to an 84% parts reuse rate based on weight.

FOPH has an established reputation for its advanced manufacturing techniques acquired through the assembly of precision equipment such as digital camera lenses. The workforce at FOPH includes numerous skilled engineers and production staff who can apply their extensive knowledge of assembly and quality control to the refurbishment process. As part of the CMC launch, several core team members from the existing manufacturing line will be involved in developing a new generation of talent focused on advancing resource recycling across the Asia-Pacific.

By integrating the refurbishment techniques honed in Japan with local expertise from FOPH, the CMC aims to ensure stable quality and efficient production processes from the start.
