American Water Charitable Foundation Introduces Exciting Hydration Station Grants
Supporting Sustainable Hydration: Hydration Station Grant Program
The American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF), an organization devoted to environmental and social initiatives, has partnered with Missouri American Water to roll out an innovative grant program aimed at promoting sustainable hydration solutions. This initiative aims to reduce the alarming statistics showing that over 60 million plastic water bottles are discarded improperly in the U.S. every day, contributing significantly to waste management issues.
Aiming for Change
This grant program, which is set to accept applications until April 30, 2026, encourages eligible public charities and K-12 public schools in Missouri to apply for funds that facilitate the installation of hydration stations. These stations are designed to provide convenient access to drinking water while simultaneously reducing reliance on single-use plastic bottles.
Rich Svindland, President of Missouri American Water, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it would not only enhance public access to water but also promote environmental stewardship in the community. The program as a whole aims to mitigate plastic waste in water streams, essential for preserving vital drinking water sources.
Benefiting the Community
The hydration stations funded by the AWCF will make a tangible difference in public spaces, offering enhanced access to clean water in schools and community areas. Recipients of the grants will receive financial aid to acquire indoor or outdoor bottle filling stations and drinking fountains, although they will need to manage the installation and upkeep on their own.
The significance of hydration in daily life cannot be overstated. As pointed out by Lori Jones, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States,
