Dematic and Eren Perakende Unite for a Revolutionized Automated Distribution Center in Türkiye
Dematic Partners with Eren Perakende: A Leap Towards Automation
In a major advancement for the logistics sector, Dematic, a prominent name in supply chain automation, has announced a strategic partnership with Eren Perakende. This collaboration aims to revolutionize Eren Perakende's new distribution center located in Istanbul, Türkiye, signaling a commitment to embracing automation and increased operational efficiency.
Eren Perakende: A Legacy of Excellence
Eren Perakende has been a trusted name in Türkiye for over 55 years, delivering esteemed global brands to consumers. Their journey began in 1990 when they teamed up with Devanlay to initiate the licensed production and distribution of Lacoste products. Since then, they have become the official distributors for several luxury brands, including Burberry and Nautica, while also expanding their own brands like House of SuperStep and Fashfed.
Today, Eren Perakende stands as a retail powerhouse, with a presence in 25 countries, employing more than 8,000 individuals and managing over 600 physical stores alongside extensive online operations. With revenues nearly reaching $2 billion, Eren Perakende recognizes the need to advance its supply chain capabilities to meet growing market demands effectively.
The Need for Automation
As consumer preferences evolve and online shopping becomes increasingly prevalent, Eren Perakende is leveraging automation to address challenges such as labor shortages and rising operational costs. The new distribution center will feature Dematic’s innovative automated solutions, designed to enhance productivity and accuracy while optimizing the supply chain as a whole.
Osman Şentürk, CEO of Eren Perakende, expressed his enthusiasm about this investment, emphasizing that the partnership with Dematic is pivotal in establishing a full omnichannel experience for their customers. The goal is ambitious: to increase digital sales from 25% to 35%, which requires a robust and efficient distribution infrastructure capable of supporting next-day and same-day delivery services.
Transforming Operations with Innovative Technology
Dematic will implement a fully automated system powered by state-of-the-art warehouse control software that integrates seamlessly with Eren Perakende’s existing SAP platforms. This integration will facilitate real-time inventory management, order processing, and fulfillment operations.
Mithun Perinchery, Head of Sales for the Middle East, Africa, and Türkiye at Dematic, stated, “We are thrilled to partner with Eren Perakende on this groundbreaking automation project. Our focus is on merging intelligent design with top-tier technology to yield substantial efficiency improvements.” With the introduction of advanced goods-to-person (GTP) picking stations and the Dematic Multishuttle® system, order fulfillment will not only become faster but will also reduce reliance on manual processes.
The automation system features high-density storage and swift order retrieval capabilities, allowing for optimized management of the distribution center. This innovative approach facilitates seamless material flow from storage to fulfillment, ensuring that Eren Perakende can quickly and accurately meet customer demands.
Collaboration for Success
Successful implementation of this cutting-edge system will require close collaboration among all project stakeholders. Dematic's presence will be punctuated by on-site support from experienced technicians and engineers, who will provide hands-on training for Eren Perakende’s operational teams to maximize the benefits of the new solutions.
Partnering with local firm ILA Otomasyon Yazılım A.Ş, both companies aim to mitigate challenges that may arise during the implementation phase. Additionally, supply chain and logistics consultancy, SDZ GmbH, will support the project, drawing on their global expertise to ensure a seamless transition to the new automated system.
Yunus Emre Koç, CLO of Eren Perakende, underscored their commitment to innovation, stating, “This investment represents our dedication to operational excellence. We are eager to collaborate with Dematic, ILA, and SDZ to elevate our distribution operations with this advanced automation solution.”
The implementation phase for the automated distribution center is set to commence in June 2025, heralding a new era of efficiency for Eren Perakende and a significant transformation in its supply chain capabilities.
