Huawei Unveils Four Innovative All-Optical Solutions for F5.5G Networks
Huawei's Revolutionary All-Optical Solutions
At the recently concluded Green All-Optical Network Forum during MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Kim Jin, the Vice President of Huawei's Optical Product Line, captivated attendees with the unveiling of four innovative all-optical solutions. These groundbreaking products aim to assist global operators in constructing fully optical F5.5G networks that prioritize artificial intelligence (AI), thereby enabling mutual benefits in this smart era.
Rise of AI and Bandwidth Needs
The surge in AI technology is accelerating the commercial application of robust broadband solutions, specifically 10 Gbit/s home connections and sub-millisecond latency for metropolitan all-optical networks. In this context, Huawei's innovative solutions are positioned to offer comprehensive end-to-end network deployment tools tailored for global operators.
As the demand for optical access networks increases, operators are urged to upgrade to 50G PON systems to provide ubiquitous 10GE access. Last year, Huawei launched the industry’s first intelligent OLT solution, the MA5800T X17, and has now introduced variants X15, X8, and X2 to meet diverse capacity demands. These devices boast the highest forwarding capability in the industry, supporting high-density 50G PON configurations that empower operators to build singular networks in the coming decade. The port density reaches 16, enabling straightforward one-to-one inventory replacements.
Intelligent Metro Networks
In the previous year, Huawei introduced an AI-oriented architecture for metropolitan networks enabling incredibly fast latency of just 1 millisecond for DCA and DCI scenarios. The latest 2T wavelength plate solution, designed for unparalleled speed, escalates the one wavelength capability from 1.6 Tbit/s to 2 Tbit/s, achieving a remarkable 20% reduction in cost per bit. Additionally, the energy-saving algorithm, inspired by ocean currents, automatically powers down inactive circuits based on real-time traffic, resulting in up to a 50% decrease in energy consumption.
With proactive latency monitoring and traffic planning capabilities, operators can expect to enhance their service planning efficiency, identifying latency risks before they impact performance.
Enhanced Trunk Networks
The OSN 9800 K series, launched the prior year as the industry's first DC-oriented OTN solution, has witnessed the inclusion of K12. This new addition caters to more operational scenarios while remaining compact. Enhanced forward error correction algorithms allow K12 to improve performance by 30% and extend the working distance for 800G by another 1000 km. Optical redirection times have significantly dropped from 10 seconds to just 50 milliseconds, resulting in reduced costs while attaining an impressive availability rate of 99.9999% for network services.
Intelligent Management and Control
Huawei's iMaster NCE is redefining network management through smart AI integration. For all-optical access, HBB Agent autonomously detects poor quality signals and resolves issues within minutes, dramatically reducing user complaints by 60%. Additionally, for fully optical transmission, the digital map feature anticipates network risks and resolves issues within 15 minutes, ensuring smooth service delivery.
Kim Jin stated, “AI is fundamentally transforming the landscape and presents unparalleled opportunities for optical networks. Huawei is committed to continuous innovation to aid operators in creating high-quality, efficient all-optical F5.5G networks while capitalizing on new opportunities.”
In conclusion, Huawei's advancements in the optical networking space not only symbolize progress in telecommunication strategies but also embrace the future of AI-driven connectivity. As these solutions roll out globally, one can anticipate transformative enhancements in network efficiency and user experience.
