Charichari Hosts Family Bicycle Safety Event in Kumamoto
Charichari, a leading bike-sharing service operated by Charichari Inc., has successfully hosted a family-oriented bicycle safety event titled "Action! Charilenja!" at the disaster prevention center in Kikuyo Town on September 15, 2025. This initiative came as part of the expansion of their bike-sharing service in the Kumamoto region, in collaboration with local municipalities to promote understanding of bicycle traffic rules and enhance safety awareness among families.
With the upcoming enforcement of the "blue ticket" traffic violation system for cyclists, the importance of understanding correct bicycle traffic regulations is heightened. The event featured contributions from the Otsu Police Station and the Kumamoto Volters, a local basketball team. Special guest Rikito Tanaka, a player from the Kumamoto Volters, participated by advocating for safe cycling practices.
Since starting in February 2018 in Fukuoka, Charichari has expanded into eight major cities across Japan, completing over 37 million rides. In Kumamoto City alone, from its launch in April 2022 to August 2025, users have logged over 2.7 million rides, indicating steady growth as a new transit infrastructure in the region. The service area in Kumamoto was recently expanded as of September 16, 2025, to connect urban areas more effectively.
