A Journey through Innovation and Leadership
With a career spanning over five decades, Lex Raas has left an indelible mark on the marine sector. His journey began in South Africa where his passion for multihull design took root. After honing his skills with Beneteau in both France and the USA, he joined The Moorings in 1994. Raas quickly climbed the ranks, eventually becoming CEO in 2001.
At The Moorings, he was pivotal in transforming the charter industry, especially by harnessing the potential of sailing catamarans for Caribbean operations. This transformation was further enriched when he partnered with renowned South African boatbuilders, John Robertson and Jerry Caine, to create the Leopard catamaran brand.
Building Aquila from the Ground Up
