Hain Celestial's Expanded Role in Fighting Hunger
In a significant step towards supporting communities in need, the Hain Celestial Group, Inc. has announced an expansion of its partnership with Feeding America as part of Walmart's ongoing campaign, "Fight Hunger. Spark Change." This initiative aims to alleviate food insecurity and assist those struggling with hunger across the United States. The health and wellness company’s commitment highlights the urgent need to address food insecurity nationwide, where an alarming 47 million people, including nearly 14 million children, are currently affected.
Hain Celestial will contribute 10 cents for every specially marked bag of their Garden Veggie™ Snacks sold in participating Walmart locations. This donation is not just a token of goodwill. Each purchase translates into the monetary equivalent of at least one meal for those in need, with a minimum guaranteed donation of $100,000 and a potential maximum of $250,000 throughout the campaign, running from March 1 to March 31, 2025.
Chad Marquardt, President of Hain North America, remarked, “We are honored to expand our partnership with Feeding America and Walmart in this year’s Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign. Our mission at Hain is to build purpose-driven brands that make healthier living attainable. Through this initiative, we can contribute more significantly to the fight against hunger and help those in our communities who need it most.”
The urgency of this campaign is further underscored by the current food insecurity statistics in America, which represent the highest levels observed over the last decade. This alarming trend signifies the importance of initiatives like “Fight Hunger. Spark Change.”, which has successfully raised over $206 million and secured more than 2 billion meals for local food banks since its inception 12 years ago.
Hain Celestial’s involvement began last year with a more modest contribution featuring four Garden Veggie Snacks items available at 1,200 Walmart locations. This year, the company's commitment has grown significantly, now rolling out five products available in nearly every Walmart outlet across the country. The brands included in this effort are:
- - Garden Veggie™ Straws in Sea Salt (14 oz.)
- - Garden Veggie™ Straws in Zesty Ranch (14 oz.)
- - Garden Veggie™ Flavor Burst™ Tortilla Chips in Nacho Cheese (12 oz.)
- - Garden Veggie™ Flavor Burst™ Tortilla Chips in Zesty Ranch (12 oz.)
- - Garden Veggie™ Flavor Burst™ Tortilla Chips in Smoky BBQ (12 oz.)
It is noteworthy that the latter item was newly launched as an exclusive in Walmart just a few months prior.
Feeding America continues to express gratitude for partners like Hain Celestial who contribute to this critical movement. Lauren Biedron, Senior VP of Corporate Partnerships at Feeding America, emphasized the impact of such collaborations on the ongoing fight against hunger across the nation. The program not only aids immediate hunger relief efforts but also fosters long-term solutions and legislative advocacy aimed at enhancing food security.
