GLN International Collaborates with NAPAS to Launch Nationwide QR Payment Service in Vietnam

GLN International Launches Nationwide QR Payment Service in Vietnam

On April 23, 2026, GLN International marked a notable step forward by launching a nationwide QR payment service in Vietnam, collaborating with NAPAS, the country's national payment system. This initiative not only signifies GLN's direct integration into Vietnam's QR payment infrastructure but also aims to revolutionize the payment landscape for both locals and visitors.

The launch ceremony, attended by representatives from the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), NAPAS, BIDV, and Hana Bank, showcased GLN's commitment to enhancing financial connectivity in Vietnam. This service allows users to make payments without the need for currency exchange, facilitating smoother transactions through partner apps widely used in the domestic market.

The QR Payment Network in Vietnam

The foundation of this service lies within the VietQR Global System, managed by NAPAS, which connects banks and merchants across the country. GLN oversees the operations of this payment system and has driven its technical integration as part of its cross-border initiatives under the Hana Financial Group. Notably, Hana Bank is recognized as the sole Korean financial institution authorized as a settlement bank by the SBV.

Enhanced Accessibility and Payment Solutions

With this new service, users can pay using their familiar banking and fintech applications, enhancing the payment experience considerably. The QR payment platform is accessible in major Vietnamese cities such as Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City, covering various everyday merchants. Partner applications such as Toss, PurpleGLN, Hana OneQ, Hana Money, and Hana Card will facilitate these payments without currency conversion, providing a seamless experience for users.

In line with future developments, GLN anticipates expanding its services to include additional platforms like Naver Pay and the KB Banking App, further broadening the scope of its reach.

Future Prospects and Integration

Seok Lee, CEO of GLN, articulated the significance of this launch, stating, “This integration marks a vital step in connecting Korea and Vietnam through a unified QR payment infrastructure. By aligning with the Vietnamese QR network, we enable travelers to enjoy simple payment experiences using the apps they are already accustomed to, without encountering currency exchange challenges.”

GLN International, a subsidiary of Hana Bank under the Hana Financial Group, has established its presence by offering QR payment and withdrawal services in 14 Asian countries, including Vietnam, China, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos, and Japan. With access to over 200 million QR merchants globally, GLN is a key player in the cross-border payment infrastructure in Asia, connecting users and merchants seamlessly.

The company has also sought partnerships with financial platforms overseas, including Moreta Pay in North America, DeCard App in Singapore, and Taishin Bank in Taiwan, highlighting its global aspirations and commitment to enhancing cross-border financial transactions.

This launch stands as a significant milestone in Vietnam's journey towards a more integrated digital payment ecosystem, setting the stage for a surge in cashless transactions and an overall modernization of the retail payment landscape.
