Hanamaru Udon Set to Delight at Sanuki Kishimen Festival 2026
In an exciting culinary venture, Hanamaru Udon, the well-loved Sanuki udon chain, is thrilled to announce its participation in the
Sanuki Kishimen Festival 2026. This vibrant cultural event, which celebrates the artistry of udon chefs, will take place from June 1 to June 30, 2026, primarily in Kagawa Prefecture.
Special Limited Edition Cold Lime Kishimen
To commemorate the festival, Hanamaru Udon will launch a special dish called
Cold Lime Kishimen, featuring an impressive array of 10 slices of fresh lemon, elegantly laid over the delicate noodles. This refreshing bowl will be available from June 18 to June 28, 2026, at 23 selected stores, including locations in Kagawa, Nagoya, Kansai, and the Tokyo metropolitan area. With only about 15 servings available each day at each store, udon enthusiasts are encouraged to savor this unique offering swiftly.
A Celebration of Udon Creativity
The
Sanuki Kishimen Festival is not just an event; it is a celebration of creativity and collaboration among udon chefs, inspired by the diverse cuisine of Nagoya’s Kishimen. Under the theme of “freedom of thought and playfulness”, this festival brings together various udon shops to showcase their own unique takes on the traditional dish, resulting in a delightful array of flavors and styles. Hanamaru Udon, acknowledging this spirit, is proud to participate once again after last year's success in the Tokyo area.
Reviving the Udon Scene in 2026
Last year, the special
Cold Lime Kishimen was a hit in the Tokyo region, generating significant buzz and continuous demand from customers eager for its return. This year, Hanamaru Udon is expanding its reach, embracing its roots in Kagawa, while also engaging foodies in other regions, thereby revitalizing the udon industry across multiple markets.
The Ingredients of Happiness
Every bowl of
Cold Lime Kishimen will be made with the finest ingredients, emphasizing the importance of quality and freshness. The noodles will be sourced from Hoshigaoka Seimenjo, a renowned producer known for their premium Kishimen, delivering an exquisite texture that is both delicate and satisfying. Customers can expect a harmony of flavors: the zesty citrus notes of the lemon will blend effortlessly with Hanamaru’s signature refreshing broth, providing a burst of flavor that is perfect for the warm early summer days.
Enjoying the Experience
To ensure that the dining experience remains top-notch, Hanamaru has devised a special takeout container that keeps the noodles separate from the broth, allowing customers to enjoy this refreshing dish without compromising the texture. The bowl is priced at 690 yen, and it is available on both dine-in and takeout formats for the same price.
The Broader Mission
This participation aligns with Hanamaru Udon's broader mission to promote and preserve the traditions of Sanuki udon while innovating within the culinary landscape. With its
Oide Mai! Sanuki Project, Hanamaru aims to communicate the unique characteristics and diversity of Sanuki udon not just in Kagawa, but across the country, celebrating its 25-year legacy.
