BMW Group Licenses Innovative Micromobility Concepts to LUYUAN Group

Exciting New Developments in Urban Mobility

In a significant step towards enhancing sustainable urban transportation, BMW Group has granted licenses for two of its innovative micromobility concepts to LUYUAN Group. This partnership was formalized during a signing ceremony held on November 26, 2025. The licensed concepts—"Dynamic Cargo" and "Clever Commute"—are designed to address the pressing challenges faced in urban mobility today.

What Are the Concepts?

The "Dynamic Cargo" is a three-wheeled electric cargo bike that combines the agility of a conventional bicycle with practical transport solutions. This model features options for safe and innovative transportation, enhanced by an optional modular weather protection system. The goal is to facilitate effective goods movement within urban environments while minimizing congestion and emissions.

On the other hand, the "Clever Commute" offers an ideal electric scooter solution for last-mile travel. It’s engineered for easy portability, allowing users to fold it compactly for public transportation or private vehicles without compromising stability. Both designs highlight BMW Group's commitment to developing practical solutions for modern urban living.

LUYUAN Group's Role

LUYUAN Group plans to leverage this licensed technology to create lightweight mobility vehicles addressing various urban scenarios, aiming for a strong presence in the global market under its own brand. As a pioneer in China's two-wheeled electric vehicle industry, LUYUAN has previously provided light mobility solutions to over 30 million users across more than 80 countries and regions.

Dr. Jochen Karg, Director of Vehicle Concepts at BMW Group, noted, "We are pleased to grant LUYUAN the rights to the Dynamic Cargo and Clever Commute concepts, which are part of our urban mobility initiatives. BMW Group has been collaborating with cities for many years, understanding the various challenges they face, such as CO2 emissions and traffic congestion. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to contribute to city-friendly transportation systems by enhancing urban mobility interconnectivity and promoting micromobility for the last mile."

Collaborating for Success

The CEO of LUYUAN Group, Hu Jihong, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting it as a pivotal move in their global strategy. LUYUAN is working to establish a technological ecosystem that combines their internal capabilities with top-tier partners. To meet stringent European standards, they have engaged BMW Group’s innovation studio, Designworks, and the German engineering firm Faissner Petermeier Fahrzeugtechnik AG. This collaboration aims to merge China’s 'smart manufacturing' with partner technologies, ensuring the development of exceptional products tailored to clients worldwide.

Future of Urban Mobility

As urban centers continue to grapple with the complexities of transportation dynamics, the alliance between BMW Group and LUYUAN Group marks a promising future for micromobility solutions that prioritize sustainability and user-friendly designs. Together, they are expected to lead advancements in this sector, creating a positive impact on urban life which is essential for its growth and sustainability. The support of cutting-edge design and engineering ensures these solutions evolve in harmony with the needs of cities around the globe.

In conclusion, the licensing of these micromobility concepts showcases a forward-thinking approach to urban transportation, providing residents with efficient and eco-friendly options. The resulting products not only aim to improve urban mobility but also contribute to the global effort of reducing environmental impact caused by conventional transportation methods.
