NASA to Stream Progress 92 Launch and Docking
NASA is all set to deliver live coverage of an exciting event in space exploration—the launch and docking of the
Progress 92 cargo spacecraft, developed by Roscosmos. This incredible spacecraft is set to carry about three tons of essential supplies to the
Expedition 73 crew aboard the
International Space Station (ISS).
Scheduled for liftoff on
July 3, 2025, at
3:32 p.m. EDT from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, the launch will be aboard a
Soyuz rocket. The live coverage will commence at
3:10 p.m. EDT and can be streamed through NASA+. It’s a great opportunity for space enthusiasts to witness firsthand the incredible steps taken to maintain human presence in space.
After its launch, the Progress 92 will embark on a two-day journey to the ISS, where it will autonomously dock with the space-facing port of the station's
Poisk module at
5:27 p.m. EDT on
July 5. NASA will begin its coverage of this docking event at
4:45 p.m. EDT. The spacecraft is expected to remain attached to the ISS for approximately six months, acting as a crucial link in providing the crew with food, fuel, and other necessary supplies.
Prior to the arrival of Progress 92, the
Progress 90 spacecraft will undock from the ISS on
July 1, but it should be noted that NASA will not stream this undocking event. Following its mission, Progress 92 will depart the ISS for re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere, where it will be safely disposed of, carrying away waste accumulated by the crew.
The ISS is a remarkable venue where science, technology, and human innovation converge to enable research that’s simply impossible on Earth. For nearly
25 years, NASA has continuously supported a U.S. human presence aboard the ISS, allowing astronauts to gain invaluable experience on how to live and work in space for extended durations. This platform serves as a launchpad for the development of a low Earth economy and the preparation for future explorations, not only to the Moon through the Artemis program but also laying the groundwork for deeper space missions, ultimately aiming for human exploration of Mars.
