He earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree from Case Western Reserve University. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, he now resides in Portland, Oregon. Beyond his corporate roles, Sharan is actively involved on several boards, including Activate, an organization dedicated to helping deep-tech entrepreneurs commercialize their innovations, and he is a board member at the Catlin Gabel School, an independent progressive school.
