Tripti Sinha Reappointed ICANN Board Chair with Sajid Rahman as Vice Chair

ICANN Announces New Leadership Roles

In a notable announcement from Dublin, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has confirmed that Tripti Sinha will continue her role as the Chair of the Board of Directors, while Sajid Rahman has been appointed as the new Vice Chair. This leadership transition coincides with the annual ICANN84 meeting, held from October 25 to 30, 2025, in Ireland.

Tripti Sinha has been a pivotal figure at ICANN, having joined the Board in 2018. Under her guidance, ICANN has seen significant developments in Internet governance and stability. With over 30 years of expertise in Internet infrastructure and global coordination, Sinha is also the President and CEO of Internet2, a key nonprofit technology corporation. Her previous roles included serving as the Associate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at the University of Maryland, where she managed cyber infrastructure and global Internet services.

Expressing her sentiments about her reappointment, Sinha stated, “It’s an honor to continue working alongside such a talented and diverse Board of Directors. This year represents a critical time for ICANN as we implement our upcoming strategic plan and strengthen our role in the changing landscape of Internet governance.” Sinha emphasized the commitment to ensuring the security and stability of unique Internet identifiers, pushing forward the next round of new generic top-level domains while enhancing collaboration globally.

Joining Sinha, Sajid Rahman brings his wealth of experience to the Vice Chair position. Since joining the Board in 2022, he has served as the Chair of the Finance Committee. Rahman is recognized for his contributions in digital services, emerging markets, and governance within technology sectors. Currently, he acts as a managing partner at a venture fund that invests in advanced technology and renewable energy infrastructure projects. His previous experience includes senior roles at Standard Chartered Bank and Telenor Health, where he was instrumental in developing global digital healthcare endeavors.

Commenting on his new role, Rahman noted, “The ICANN Board reflects the diversity and collaborative spirit that define the global Internet community. As we navigate unprecedented technological and social changes, I look forward to working with my fellow directors to advance ICANN’s mission and commitments across all regions.”

In addition to Sinha and Rahman, ICANN welcomes three new Board members: Constance Bommelaer de Leusse, Raúl Echeberría, and Greg DiBiase. Their combined expertise in Internet governance, policy, and technical operations is expected to further enhance the Board's capacity to fulfill ICANN’s mission of maintaining a secure, stable, and interoperable global Internet.

The ICANN Board consists of 20 members, including 16 voting members and 4 non-voting liaison representatives. This diverse composition emphasizes ICANN's dedication to global representation and technical competence in Internet governance. The Chair and Vice Chair serve one-year terms, while voting members hold three-year terms.
