Martha Teichner Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
The
Alliance for Women in Media Foundation proudly announces that renowned correspondent
Martha Teichner from
CBS Sunday Morning will be honored with the
Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming
50th Annual Gracie Awards Luncheon. The event is scheduled to take place on
June 18, 2025, at
Cipriani 42nd Street, New York City.
This prestigious award will be presented by
Jane Pauley, the host of
CBS Sunday Morning and a previous Gracies Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. This recognition is not just a celebration of Teichner’s remarkable contributions to journalism over five decades but also a tribute to her profound influence on media.
According to
Becky Brooks, President of the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation, "Martha Teichner is a legendary storyteller of unmatched depth and insight. Across continents and decades, her work has educated, united, and inspired audiences around the world. It is fitting that, in our 50th year of honoring women in media, we acknowledge her considerable impact in journalism."
Teichner's career, spanning more than 50 years, showcases her eloquence, compassion, and innate curiosity. She has covered a wide range of topics, from international conflicts to culture and cuisine, and was among the first women to report from global conflict zones at a time when such assignments were rare for women in the media.
Reflecting on her career, Teichner noted, "When I started my news career in 1971, a listener from my first job at a country western radio station in Grand Rapids, Michigan, objected to my presence on the airwaves. It ignited my determination to contribute meaningfully to journalism and bring about a positive change. I hope that the work I have done has made a difference for women in our field."
As the Gracie Awards mark five decades of celebrating excellence in television, streaming, radio, audio, and digital platforms, this award fosters recognition of persistence, purpose, and passion in media.
Teichner's storytelling prowess has continuously informed, enriched, and inspired millions, showcasing not just the news but the human spirit behind it. The award ceremony will be a momentous occasion, commemorating not only her achievements but also the strides made by women in the industry.
Furthermore, the
Gracie Awards, in its grand tradition, also functions as a fundraiser for the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation. This foundation dedicates efforts to advancing women's roles in media through educational scholarships and programs.
