Recap of SANY Group's Rural Revitalization Project Winning Best Practice Award
SANY Group's Daotong Village Rural Revitalization Project
In a remarkable achievement, SANY Heavy Industry and the SANY Foundation's rural revitalization initiative in Daotong Village, Hunan Province, has been honored as a 2024 Best Practice Case for Rural Revitalization by Listed Companies. This project, launched in 2019, not only exemplifies a commitment to China's rural development but also aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Innovative Integration of Services
The Daotong Village project integrates several key components that form a comprehensive approach to rural life. A standout feature of this initiative is its focus on smart elderly care. Within a village where about 21% of the population is elderly, a dedicated care system has been established. This system combines the knowledge of social workers, professional caregivers, and state-of-the-art healthcare technology. A central healthcare facility, which serves as a hub for health management and community activities, receives approximately 12,500 visits annually. Here, 631 digital health profiles have been created, allowing for personalized care tailored to each individual.
Moreover, efforts to enhance safety and care for the elderly have led to the renovation of 17 low-income homes, equipping them with advanced emergency response systems. To ensure that this initiative can be replicated in other regions, a standardized operational manual has been developed.
Infrastructure Improvements for Sustainable Development
SANY Group's project has set a high standard for what sustainable rural infrastructure should look like. Significant upgrades have been made to Daotong's infrastructure—most notably, the upgrading of its drinking water network to meet WHO water standards and the restoration of Longtang Lake's ecosystem. Innovative solutions also include the installation of a 530-unit solar-powered streetlight network, which decreases annual carbon emissions by 42 tons while enhancing safety across main roads.
Through a Daotong Micro-Fund, the community has been empowered to manage and enhance its public spaces effectively. This community-driven model has resulted in eight upgrades to public areas, embodying engagement in a project ethos of
