Seminar on Urban Wooden Architecture by Mitsubishi Estate

Japan Planning Institute (JPI) is pleased to invite
Masaru Yoshihara, the head of the Structural Design Department and the head of the Wood Architecture Lab at Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., to speak at a seminar titled
"Transforming Cities into the Second Forest!
This event will detail the Mitsubishi Estate Group’s innovative challenges in urban wooden architecture. With the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by
2050, the group emphasizes utilizing renewable energy and aims to reduce CO2 emissions while striving for CO2 fixation in urban areas. By promoting appropriate wooden structures, they aim to establish a sustainable ecosystem where cities and forests support one another, benefiting not just their clients but the entire community towards achieving a sustainable society.
Focus on Urban Sustainability
Mitsubishi Estate has made significant strides in wooden architecture since their establishment of the MEC Industry in January 2020 and the initiation of their factory in Yusui Town, Kagoshima Prefecture, in June 2022. Their innovative projects include the manufacturing and processing of various wooden construction materials such as 2X4 timber and CLTs (Cross Laminated Timber), along with the development and sales of products like
MI Deck and
MOKWELL HOUSE. This comprehensive strategy has established a network for the procurement, development, and operational usage of wood resources within the group.
