greaterSATX Recognized with 2025 Mac Conway Award for Outstanding Economic Development Efforts

greaterSATX Awarded the Prestigious 2025 Mac Conway Award

In an impressive feat for the San Antonio region, greaterSATX Regional Economic Partnership has received the 2025 Mac Conway Award for Excellence in Economic Development, as announced on May 8, 2025. This recognition from Site Selection Magazine places greaterSATX among the top 20 Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) in the United States, a testament to the dynamic growth and prosperity being cultivated in this area.

This notable award honors the late H. McKinley "Mac" Conway, a pioneering figure in the realm of economic development. It celebrates outstanding performance by EDOs in their efforts to attract capital investments, create jobs, and deliver tangible impacts within their communities. The evaluation is grounded in detailed metrics such as project wins, capital invested, job creation, and relative economic performance.

Sarah Carabias Rush, Chief Economic Development Officer for greaterSATX, stated, "This recognition confirms that the strategic work we're doing across the greater San Antonio region is delivering real results—not just locally, but laudable on a national scale." The ongoing initiatives have led to the establishment of an agile and resilient business climate, making it increasingly attractive to companies looking to expand and innovate.

Over the last two years, greaterSATX has effectively brought more than 17,000 new jobs into the San Antonio area, along with securing over $6.6 billion in capital investment. Notably, in 2024 alone, the organization managed to secure 30 new projects that injected $1.2 billion in capital and created thousands of high-wage job opportunities for the local workforce. This remarkable achievement reflects the successful business development strategies that have resulted in a significant rise in project inquiries and conversions.

In terms of job growth, the San Antonio region proved to be a frontrunner in the nation, ranking as the third best performing market for job growth in the United States and claiming the top spot in Texas. Furthermore, since 2018 the percentage of residents attaining higher education has increased by 6.4%, outperforming over nine comparable metropolitan areas.

Significant achievements recognized through the Mac Conway Award include major projects from leading brands like Toyota, Guidehouse, American Sole, Eiken Chemical, and Global Gates Network. A standout project was the groundbreaking of a new $500 million factory in San Antonio by JCB, a global leader in construction equipment manufacturing. This venture represents the company's most substantial investment to date and further emphasizes the San Antonio region’s growing allure, which is strengthened by an innovative talent pool, thriving business ecosystems, and excellent living standards.
