Introducing NurAI
In a significant step forward for artificial intelligence,
Zetrix AI Berhad—previously known as
MY E.G. Services Berhad—has launched the world's first Shariah-aligned large language model, aptly named
NurAI. Unveiled on August 12, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during the
ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit, this innovative model aims to serve the unique needs of Muslims globally by marrying modern technology with traditional Islamic principles.
Addressing a Global Need
With approximately two billion Muslims worldwide and a projected market size of
US$3 trillion for the Islamic economy, there has been a growing demand for AI solutions that align with Islamic beliefs and values. Existing AI systems, predominantly developed in Western contexts, often overlook the cultural and religious nuances required by Muslim communities.
NurAI aims to fill this void, creating a platform that respects Shariah guidelines while providing comprehensive knowledge ranging from contemporary issues like law and healthcare to historical studies within Islam.
The launch event was officiated by
YAB Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister, who emphasized the importance of harmonizing technology with religious values for the betterment of the community. He called on all sectors—government, private institutions, and religious organizations—to support initiatives like
NurAI to foster a robust digital Islamic economy.
Unique Features of NurAI
One of the standout features of
NurAI is its
AI Avatar channels, which allow users to interact with avatars modeled after subject-matter experts. These avatars, backed by exclusive datasets, provide personalized advice in areas like
Islamic finance and religious education, resembling a virtual
ustaz or Islamic scholar. Unlike traditional LLMs that offer generic responses,
NurAI’s AI Avatars deliver nuanced insights, fostering a deeper understanding of complex topics.
In collaboration with
INCEIF University and various leading Islamic scholars, the AI Avatars will offer tailored content to enhance learning and engagement in Islamic finance and other disciplines.
NurAI is accessible in multiple languages—
Malay, Indonesian, Arabic, and English—across both desktop and mobile platforms, making it globally accessible to a diverse audience of Muslim users.
Rooted in Islamic Ethics
Developed under the scrutiny of a dedicated
Shariah Supervisory Board,
NurAI holds firm to Islamic ethics and principles, ensuring a platform users can trust. The collaboration with entities like the
Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) and the
Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) fortifies this commitment, facilitating the establishment of a Shariah-aligned operational framework.
Paving the Way for AI Sovereignty
The launch of
NurAI is not just about introducing a new AI tool; it represents a significant movement towards AI sovereignty for Muslim-majority nations. As governments in
Malaysia, Indonesia, and the
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) call for tools that reflect their cultural and religious values,
NurAI emerges as a reliable alternative, augmenting the existing technological landscape with purpose-built solutions that resonate with Islamic principles.
Strategic Rollout and Future Plans
According to
Datuk Mohd Jimmy Wong Bin Abdullah, Director of
Zetrix AI, the rollout of
NurAI is designed to be phased, beginning with a
freemium B2C app that offers general Shariah guidance. Premium features such as
inheritance calculators and
medical bioethics advice will also be included. Subsequent phases will integrate
NurAI into the operations of Islamic financial institutions and fintech companies, enhancing their service offerings while maintaining alignment with Islamic doctrines.
Zetrix AI's Vision
Zetrix AI's commitment to ethical AI extends beyond
NurAI. As a leader in
blockchain technology and
artificial intelligence across
ASEAN, the company is paving the way for responsible and values-driven digital infrastructures. With the launch of
NurAI, Zetrix AI not only reaffirms Malaysia's leadership in halal certification and Islamic finance but also its role in the ethical AI movement that prioritizes the values of Muslim communities around the world.
