Celebrating 100 Years of OrthoMaryland
OrthoMaryland, a prominent name in
orthopaedic care in Maryland, proudly commemorates its
100th anniversary. Established as Maryland's oldest continuously operating independent orthopaedic group, OrthoMaryland has played a monumental role in the health landscape, showcasing commitment, compassion, and innovation in patient care. Now a division of the
Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics (CAO), the practice has continually adapted to better serve the community over the last century.
From its humble beginnings in
Baltimore County, OrthoMaryland has expanded its reach with four modern facilities, now servicing areas up to
Harford County. Through its comprehensive range of services, including preventive care, surgery, chiropractic support, physical therapy, and walk-in access, it has become a go-to for many residents seeking orthopaedic assistance. Dr. David Buchalter, a leading surgeon at OrthoMaryland, articulated the pride the organization feels stating, "It's truly remarkable for an independent practice to thrive for a century."
The foundation of OrthoMaryland's success is rooted in the dedication of its staff. The team consists of
14 board-certified physicians and
18 highly skilled physician assistants and therapists, collectively managing over
50,000 patient visits each year. The organization is recognized for elevating the patient experience; offering walk-in appointments, extended hours, virtual consultations, and user-friendly online scheduling reflects its commitment to innovation. This forward-thinking approach has allowed OrthoMaryland to navigate the challenges posed by an evolving healthcare environment effectively.
Beyond clinical achievements, OrthoMaryland is deeply integrated into the community. It has pioneered educational initiatives over the past
25 years, designed for nurse care managers and local community members promoting awareness regarding
musculoskeletal health and updated treatment methods. Furthermore, the practice actively supports local schools and youth sports programs, embodying a holistic approach to health by encouraging active lifestyles in younger generations.
In response to the increasing demand for orthopaedic services, OrthoMaryland has recently opened a
new 6,400-square-foot facility in
Abingdon, MD. This state-of-the-art location is equipped for walk-in orthopaedic care and physical therapy, alongside on-site X-rays and durable medical equipment. With services available Monday through Saturday, the new facility aims to accommodate around
2,000 orthopaedic patients and an equal number for physical therapy within its first operational year.
As OrthoMaryland embarks on its next century of achievements, its focus remains steadfast on advancing orthopaedic care. Through ongoing education and innovation, it strives to empower patients, helping them lead healthier and more active lives. This commitment to excellence ensures that OrthoMaryland will continue to be a beacon of hope and care for its community.
