Sophie Boulanger Takes the Helm as CEO of SRTX, Driving Innovation in Textile Industry

Sophie Boulanger Appointed CEO of SRTX

In a significant leadership change, SRTX, renowned for its innovative textile brand Sheertex®, has announced the appointment of Sophie Boulanger as the new Chief Executive Officer. The announcement was made on September 4, 2025, and is expected to set a new course for the company as it looks to expand its footprint in the global market.

Boulanger, a notable figure in the Canadian retail sector with over 20 years of experience, is well-acclaimed for her strategic and operational leadership. She co-founded BonLook, a direct-to-consumer eyewear brand, which has profoundly influenced the optical industry in Canada. Under her stewardship from 2011 to 2022, BonLook not only achieved national prominence but also expanded to 40 stores within just four years and employed over 400 individuals. The company later underwent a successful acquisition by FYidoctors in 2021, a testament to Boulanger's capability to scale brands and create lasting value.

As Boulanger steps into her new role at SRTX, she expressed her excitement, stating, "SRTX has built one of the most innovative materials companies of our time, with Sheertex redefining durability in fashion and apparel. I am honored to join the company at such a pivotal stage and look forward to working with our talented team and world-class investors to expand our reach, scale our operations, and continue shaping the future of sustainable textiles." She also acknowledged the contributions of her predecessor, Katherine Homuth, whose vision laid the essential groundwork for SRTX's success.

The implications of this appointment coincide with a major boost to the company's financial capabilities. SRTX recently closed a substantial US$40 million fundraising round, spearheaded by key investors such as BDC Capital, Export Development Canada, HM Group, and Investissement Québec. These funds are earmarked for scaling SRTX's operations based in Montreal, particularly at the newly expanded 300,000-square-foot facility in Pointe-Claire, which is equipped with state-of-the-art, automated technology to enhance production efficiency.

As a Certified B Corporation, SRTX is committed to driving sustainability in the apparel sector. Its flagship product, the patent-pending Sheertex® Rip-Resist knit, is heralded for its strength, disrupting traditional hosiery markets. Named one of TIME's Best Inventions in 2018, SRTX aims to continue pushing the envelope with its durable and sustainable textile solutions.

Reflecting on her appointment, the investors backed Boulanger's vision, stating, "We are excited to welcome Sophie Boulanger as CEO. With her entrepreneurial mindset, operational expertise, and vision for consumer-centric growth, she is very well-positioned to lead SRTX into its next chapter." They highlighted her impressive track record in scaling brands and her ability to create significant shareholder value, which is crucial for SRTX as it seeks to transform the apparel industry.

The SRTX Board, alongside its dedicated team, expressed gratitude to Timothy Leyne, who filled the role of Interim CEO during this transition and contributed significantly during a pivotal period of growth for the company. As SRTX embarks on its journey under Boulanger's leadership, all eyes will be on how her experience and vision translate into the company's strategic objectives and operational success moving forward. With her at the helm, SRTX looks poised for a future characterized by innovation, sustainability, and expanded market presence.
