Wayfair Expands Its Retail Presence with a New Store in Atlanta by 2026
Wayfair Expands Its Retail Presence in Atlanta
Wayfair Inc., a leading online destination for home goods, revealed plans to open its second large-format store in Atlanta, Georgia, slated for 2026. This new retail space will encompass an expansive 150,000-square-foot design, becoming a notable shopping destination for those in pursuit of furniture, home decor, housewares, appliances, and home improvement necessities. The store aims to inspire and enhance homes of all styles and budgets.
A Unique Shopping Experience
Liza Lefkowski, the Vice President of Merchandising and Stores at Wayfair, expressed enthusiasm about this venture. She emphasized the company's commitment to delivering a seamless shopping experience, both online and in-store. Lefkowski stated, "We are thrilled to bring this one-of-a-kind shopping experience to the Atlanta metro area. Our extensive selection caters to all styles and budgets, with a vast catalog brought to life in an inspiring and user-friendly shopping environment."
This Atlanta store marks a significant milestone in Wayfair's expansion efforts, following the successful launch of its maiden large-format store in Wilmette, Illinois, in May 2024. The Wilmette location exceeded expectations, driving sales growth exceeding 15% year-on-year compared to the national average.
Bridging Online and In-Store
One of the standout features of the new Atlanta store will be its ability to provide immediate gratification to shoppers, as many items will be available for purchase and immediate takeaway. For larger household items, such as sofas, the proximity to Wayfair's fulfillment center in McDonough, GA, will enable quick delivery.
The store will be strategically located at 1801 Howell Mill Rd NW, within The District at Howell Mill, a popular shopping center situated in Atlanta's bustling Upper Westside. Its location along I-75 will ensure easy access for both local residents and visitors from the greater Atlanta area, making it a convenient shopping hub.
Enthusiasm in the Community
Lefkowski highlighted the excitement generated by the Wilmette store’s opening, which attracted shoppers and local tours from neighboring states, showcasing the strong community interest in the Wayfair brand. She noted, "It’s been incredible to witness the enthusiasm for Wayfair in person and we can't wait to bring that same energy to Atlanta."
To maximize strategic positioning, the lease was facilitated by Fraser Gough and Benton Green from Retail Planning Corporation. The property will be managed by JLL Income Property Trust, representative of LaSalle Investment Management, alongside Selig Enterprises, a well-established real estate development firm with a long-standing presence in Atlanta.
