Clarivate Enhances Support for American Libraries with New ALA Partnership

Clarivate and the American Library Association: A New Era of Support

In a significant step for library advocacy in the United States, Clarivate Plc, a prominent provider of transformative intelligence, has announced a new milestone in its ongoing collaboration with the American Library Association (ALA). This partnership marks an important commitment to bolstering public support for libraries across the nation.

The ALA is recognized as the world's largest library association, dedicated to the advocacy of libraries, library workers, and the communities they serve, from small community libraries to the most extensive library systems available. On February 10, 2025, the ALA launched the Public Supporter Program, designed to engage the public with resources and information about library advocacy, an initiative that Clarivate is proud to support as its inaugural sponsor.

Bar Veinstein, President of Academia and Government at Clarivate, articulates the importance of this endeavor: "Libraries have always been a cornerstone of education, research, and access to information. We are proud to stand and partner with the American Library Association as leading library advocates in the U.S., providing them with the resources and support they need to continue their vital work."

As an inaugural sponsor of the Public Supporter Program, Clarivate's contributions are expected to have a substantial impact on several key areas:

1. Library Funding: The ALA actively advocates for sufficient funding at various governmental levels, ensuring libraries can maintain their crucial services.
2. Library Grants: Through this program, the ALA provides much-needed grant opportunities specifically for small and rural libraries, empowering them to thrive in their communities.
3. Right to Read: A core tenet of the ALA's mission is to champion the right to read freely, advocating against censorship in all its forms.
4. Internet Access for All: The ALA is committed to securing funding for broadband access to ensure that all communities have internet availability, an essential resource in our digital age.

This partnership not only marks a significant commitment from Clarivate but also underscores the ALA's longstanding mission to transform communities through library services. Cindy Hohl, the ALA President, expressed immense gratitude for Clarivate's support, emphasizing the company's crucial role in aiding libraries during this formative time. "We are grateful for Clarivate's partnership over the years, and we especially want to thank them for their deepening commitment to ALA and libraries," she stated. "As the first sponsor of our new Public Supporter Program, Clarivate is truly demonstrating they are FOR OUR LIBRARIES."

The collaboration between Clarivate and ALA is set to expand over a two-year period, concluding in 2027. This initiative's scope is designed not only to support the immediate needs of libraries but also to pave the way for long-term enhancements in library advocacy and support.
