Az Staff Launches Driver Training Program for Nepalese Immigrants to Japan

Az Staff Launches Driver Training Program for Nepalese Drivers

Overview of the Current Situation

In March 2024, the Specified Skills system will extend to the automobile transportation sector. However, its adoption remains limited. Concerns about risks and the scarcity of real-world examples within the industry contribute to this slow uptake. While 17 countries from Southeast Asia are eligible for participation, selecting the best candidates poses additional challenges.

Addressing Challenges

To tackle these issues, Az Staff is implementing a comprehensive transport education program in Nepal. A qualified Japanese driving instructor, Hiroshi Kuroiwa, will be stationed locally to provide personalized training. Each candidate will undergo 40 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of practical driving lessons, matching or exceeding the training hours needed for new Japanese drivers. This approach enables recruiting companies to evaluate each candidate's driving skills during interviews, ensuring a more informed hiring decision.

As of now, five companies have visited Nepal, resulting in over 30 job offers, and with upcoming interviews, preparations are underway for more than 50 candidates to enter Japan soon.

Why Nepal?

Az Staff has chosen Nepal for several reasons. Amid global competition for talent, Nepal stands out due to the high number of job seekers aiming to work in Japan, similarities in vehicle operation, the gentle demeanor of its people, and minimal religious restrictions. The organization collaborates with Kizuna H.R. Solutions Pvt. Ltd., the leading agency in Nepal for sending workers to Japan, which operates nine Japanese language schools and provides ongoing Japanese education to over 2,000 students. This agency is also the sole provider of the JPT Japanese Language Proficiency Test in the country.

Comments from Az Staff's Executive Office

Aito Taniguchi, head of Az Staff's Executive Office, emphasizes the importance of not only technical driving skills but also the necessity of qualities such as empathy, cooperation, and integrity. The Japanese-style education they provide focuses not just on practical skills but also on instilling a strong moral foundation, aiming to introduce drivers who the Japanese transportation companies will be glad to welcome.

Insights from the Driving Instructor

Hiroshi Kuroiwa, a driving instructor at Az Staff, highlights the importance of understanding traffic rules and safety through both intellectual and emotional engagement. His teachings aim to instill the gravity of human life and the significance of safe driving practices. With extensive experience as an instructor in Japan, he is committed to delivering an educational program that meets Japanese standards, cultivating safe and responsible drivers ready for the Japanese roads.
