A Celebration of Fragrance and Surrealism at Facticerie
In honor of Salvador Dalí’s birthday, Facticerie is set to present an extraordinary two-day event titled
“The Scent of Dalí: A Surrealist Celebration of Fragrance Fantasies” on May 9 and 10, 2025, in Hackensack, New Jersey. This unique occasion will allow visitors to delve into the surreal world of one of art's most iconic figures while celebrating the fusion of scent and creativity.
Founded by Sudhir Gupta, who is acclaimed for his record-holding collection of oversized perfume sculptures, Facticerie houses the largest collection of perfume factices worldwide. This museum offers an unparalleled sensory experience, presenting over 3,500 giant perfume bottles that were originally designed as display art. These remarkable sculptures are now the backdrop for an exhibit unlike any in the fragrance industry.
The highlight of the exhibition is the only known complete collection of Salvador Dalí's oversized perfume sculptures. Visitors can expect to encounter artistic interpretations that exude the essence of surrealism: phantasmagoric flacons, melted forms, and amphora-like relics transformed into immersive scent installations. Each piece presents not just a visual spectacle but also sparks the imagination, merging memory with creative expression.
A Floral Interpretation by Mercedes Acosta
Accompanying the exhibit will be the stunning floral dreamscapes created by Venezuelan artist Mercedes Acosta. Known for her ethereal work displayed at prestigious events like the MET Gala, Acosta's installations feature dried flowers, botanical shadows, and suspended flora. Her creations provide a feminine and Latin American lens to the surrealistic themes present in Dalí's art.
“With my installations, I'm channeling the idea that memory itself is a form of fragrance,” says Acosta. “This is my heartfelt tribute to Dalí and to every dream that refuses to fade.”
Gupta adds, “Dalí showed us that the surreal is often more real than reality itself. Here at Facticerie, we pay homage to him not with traditional art, but through the medium of fragrance.”
An Immersive Experience
Visitors will also have a chance to explore restored architectural elements from the historic Lascoff Pharmacy located in Manhattan. These architectural features have been transformed into scent altars and cabinets of surreal memories, providing a multi-faceted experience that merges history with olfactory art.
A press preview with bilingual interviews and high-resolution visuals is available for media, cultural editors, and television crews. Interested parties can reach out to Sudhir Gupta for RSVP and further information.
Facticerie is not just a museum—it's where the invisible aspects of art come alive through scent. This rare opportunity to see the confluence of art and fragrance is one that no enthusiast should miss. For further details, please visit
